Nelson Golf Club

First time at Nelson. Staff very welcoming. Course in fabulous condition for time of year with all greens in play and true. Preferred lies but no mats. Good course for the mid handicapper as plenty of width and not particularly long.

As said in the title, unfortunately the course was closed on the day we're supposed to play. I'm still giving it 5* due to the very friendly and helpful member of staff there who rung me the day before to give us warning that the course may well be closed due to snow and the forecast looking like it wouldn't clear before our round. However, as I attempted to contact GolfNow to cancel the booking (which clearly states refunds are available either 24hrs in advance or if the course is closed due to weather) I found this impossible.

The "Request Cancellation" option simply said "not available", presumably because it was within the 24hr cancellation period, however I have had no way of telling them that the course was closed on the day. So 5* for the course for being professional and helpful, but 0* for GolfNow for being impossible to contact regarding the refund.

Although off mats or the side of the fairway it didn’t take anything away from what a nice course this is, will definitely be back in the summertime

Great course,played Nelson GC quiet a few times and it nvr disappoints,always in good condition even though the winter,took a mate there for the first time and he loved it will definitely be back nxt spring/summer.

Played end of October and the greens, fairways and tee boxes were a credit to the maintenance staff. Excellent views on the course and some really interesting greens with different shapes and tiers throughout the course. Only grumble was that there was no hot food with our drink after out round but cant complain at all for £13/person online. Excellent value and a cracking course. I'll be back.

Have played this course a couple of times before and has never disappointed very good layout with a nice variety of holes with lovely scenery and excellent condition for October.clubhouse is very friendly with very good prices recommend this course to anyone as it is great value for money

A little quirky in places with blind shots and typical McKenzie sloping / tiered greens. Nice views from some of the elevated parts of the course. The course was well presented, in good condition and is a decent test of golf, especially if the wind is up, despite being fairly short.

First time playing this course, the greens were in excellent condition and ran very true. The course is a bit condensed with several tee boxes right next to greens and several blind shots making it tricky to know if it was clear to play but still an enjoyable round.

The Par 3s are excellent, framed really well

First time playing this course but will definitely be back. Course in great condition with some challenging holes.

Great course, lovely greens and fairways. Very good value for money. We played on a hot sunny day so the hot weather did zap all the energy and our cold drinks became warm despite being in the freezer pack in my bag and there was no where we could replenish our drinks so we were a little thirsty at the end. So make sure you take enough fluids and ice packs if you can. A lovely course though and we’ll worth a visit.

This course is really good , good layout , some great holes , quirky and interesting is how I'd describe it. It's not long but long enough to keep you interested . Theres no long walks from green to tee and apart from 2 steep hills it's not a difficult walk . The condition of the course was great and very tidy . Good greens with plenty of slopes .

Forgiving course that is playable for higher handicap like me or the more accomplished golfer. Very friendly pro shop and in the clubhouse afterwards.

Just go and play it, you won't be disappointed

Could not believe how great the course was for just out of winter, the greens so smooth and a nice pace, well looked after course and some great hole’s couldn’t find fault in anything today. Can’t wait to play it in the summer!

Course in great condition for the time of year some work being carried out but no problems

Had a really enjoyable winter round, the course was in very good order, being on a hill it drains well. Every hole is unique, the course is challenging but sensible designed so that high handicap golfers can enjoy their round. Will definitely be back
