Tried out this course while my club is currently using mats only. Upon arriving the staff at reception was really friendly.

The greens keeper seems to be doing a good job considering the weather conditions and the course now going into the winter months.

Course lay out was at times confusing. Not a lot of signage for holes and even with the course lay out on the back of the card was still difficult to find where your next hole was a few times.

Felt more like a hike than a round of golf at times with how up hill most of the holes felt. Probably seemed more exaggerated with the wet conditions, but still difficult for walking 18 holes with a bag.

Unfortunately probably wouldn’t return

Great course very friendly staff

Played here today with a mate who is just getting back into golf. Turned up at course to be greeted by a very friendly member of staff. He gave great tips and advice about the course. Course a little wet but due to the amount of rain we’ve had I was expect a lot wetter. Great value for money will definitely be back.

Course in a terrible condition, greens have puncture wounds on them. Presuming this is from birds but no effort has been made to repair the greens. Bunkers overgrown and unkept. One of the greens has been relayed but is unplayable, shouldn’t be charged full price for playing the course in current condition

Nasty little man

Arrived with a friend and was paired with two others, my brother was on the next tee time. We asked if we could change things around as it was really quiet but the little hitler in the shop refused, we teed off with the other two guys and paired up with my brother on the next tee and the other two guys went on there own as it was very quiet, so we were two and three ball instead of four and 1 ball so speed of play was better and it was quiet anyway. Got to the tenth and little hitler came up on a buggy and told us we had been reported to brs golf and were banned for life, he also blamed Rory mcilroy and golf now because he gets no money from them. Played this course for over a year and all he does is moan about golf now. I could use more choice words about little hitler but I won’t lower myself to his standards, golfers beware, good course but shocking shop staff.

Needs some T.L.C.

I came up here wanting to have a pleasant round and come away leaving a good review, but Wow this course has drastically declined over the past few years . While the staff were friendly and helpful enough, I wish I could say the same about the course conditions. The tee beds were overgrown , the fairways were worse for wear with cut grass left all over the place , several of the bunkers were more like a cabbage patch . Not sure of the reason for this , but this course has definitely gone downhill recently. I didn't even bother to finish my round .

I’m sorry that you didn’t enjoy your round. We are as frustrated as you were disappointed with the condition of the course but as you may be aware we have experienced unprecedented rainfall since July last year. Despite every effort the ground has been so soft it has been impossible to get machines on the course. The bunkers have been under water for much of this time and as soon as we were able we restored them. This has been a desperate time for many golf clubs in the north who strive to keep our courses playable for golfers in extreme conditions. The Greenkeepers have been working 14 hour days to try and restore the course to achieve a better standard. Unfortunately Mother Nature is a strong force that we are at the mercy of.

Thank you for your understanding.

Decent Budget Course

With the weather being none stop rain! For what feels like 6 months straight… to get out & just play is a bonus & at Marsden the front 9 was open. The course was good for the conditions & we Paid £13 which is a bargain! (Two of us for £26). The staff were friendly & helpful, we finished the front 9 then just asked if we could go again! So we did the front 9 twice no extra charge. Will return again when the weather picks up.

It’s definitely worth £20 a round.

Played this course the other day was a pretty good budget course wouldn’t like to pay much more than £20 a round in the condition it’s in now really the greens are not in great condition but considering the wet weeks we’ve had that won’t help them it’s looks quite roughly looked after but it was fun. You need to be pretty fit if walking with heavy bag it’s very hilly in parts got some great views and would definitely recommend at least 1 visit for the price of just £20 a round. 👍🏻 Ps. There are no markers what’s so ever so invest in a smart watch or your phone for yardages. Thanks Pete and Simon.

Nice course

Could do with a few signs on where to go especially hole 12. Apart from that it's a good knock pretty dry for the time of year and the rain we have had.
