North Downs Golf Club

Nine of us played with our small society. Most were new to N Downs. All liked the course but we were all disappointed that all 18 holes had temporary greens. Most of the greens looked and felt playable, and although the fairways were very muddy in places, we'd all seen far worse elsewhere.

We'll play again but had booked based on a super round a month prior and only 2 temp greens. Policy changes needed?

I was very much looking forward to playing this course after reading recent reviews, however when I checked in at the pro shop I was informed that all greens were unplayable and temporary greens were being used, obviously this is not something you want to hear and had I have known this I would probably have not made the hour long journey. I do feel the course should have been closed as it was unplayable in parts , however saying all of the above I would like to play the course in the summer . Basically temp greens are no fun and if I new this was the case I would have gone to a driving range.

Course was soaking and still paid full price for 9 temp greens. Shocking condition. Pro shop didn't seem to care when asked. Won't be playing again. Courses local to this don't hold the weather so bad.

Played many times in the past, but the last time was as bad as it gets. The course had 12 temporary greens which considering the weather was pretty good and we had not had much rain was unbelievable.

I'm afraid the English weather ruined this round before it started. Lots of standing water and 9 temporary greens. That says it all really. If you havev9 temps then the course should have been closed. Near impossible to push a trolley. The strange thing was there was no water on the greens out if action and they all looked fine. It appears saving the course for the members competition on the bank holiday.

Would have expected to be contacted beforehand if 9 temporary greens and refund offered.

I would not recommend anyone playing NDGC at present due to saturated condition of course.

Course in very good shape for late November - much better than many locally.

Course split between fairly simple 7 holes on one side of the road followed by some very challenging holes that I believe are part of the original course on the home side.

Whole club seems very friendly.

This course is a hidden gem up in posh Woldingham. The holes have real independent character from great par threes including one you have to hit OVER a tree, one where there are walls of trees either side directing you to do a straight shot onto the green to par fours including one which dips hugely down and then up so from the teeing off area you hit it directly in to the upslope at the same height as you. AWESOME course, will not be playing many courses other than this for some time!

This is a course on the top of the downs so despite the recent wet weather, it was not muddy, only boggy in very small patches and the greens very good. For the green free this was a steal.

You need to score on the short par fours as the longer ones are tough. No hole is the same so it makes for an enjoyable round, full of undulations and challenges.

The staff are very friendly and I cannot fault, nor could my two playing partners who couldn't believe you could play a course like this for such a small amount.

Play here and you will not be disappointed.

After heavy rain in the morning the course was extremely wet. It dried out well as the day went on. Scoring improved on the back 9, especially for our 21 handicapped player who now thinks he should play on the European tour after his amazing 31 points.

There are some great holes to this course like the 10th

Where you could even forget what you’ve scored it that nice. Nice traditional club house too. A welcomed pint of Guinness took away the pain of hearing the ongoing rants from our new professional tour champion.

A nice afternoon out. Course in good condition for the time of year. First 7 holes are less interesting than the last 11 holes.

Greens were decent, though in my opinion they differed a bit from one side of the road to the other (it's a very quiet lane).

Overall, the course is an interesting and tricky layout in a wonderful setting with lovely views, benefitting from a handful of strong longer par 4's.

However, it is though quite short at 5.8k yards as there are also quite a group of short par 4's too.

We had a nice walk and the golf was enjoyable enough but not really exhilarating.

Local knowledge would help as working out where and how far some of the fairways went off the tees was difficult.

Staff were very friendly and helpful.

We'd definitely would consider, but don't feel compelled, to go back and play there again.

Nothing Fancy. Decent course for the price. Grass was a little long and greens has a few bumps and holes but for £25 it was a nice course. Would not want to pay much more for it

Great course with some pretty and interesting holes.Everything about this course is good. Great layout, lovely fairways. Greens a bit bobble but same everywhere in winter Golf.

Would recommend and well worth £27.50.

Beautifully kept course, with some challenging holes but very forgiving fairways. As a mid handicapper it’s great to not automatically lose a ball because you’re just off the fairway. Good layout with a mixture of drivable par 4s and some longer ones as well. Greens were great, but tee boxes were showing a little bit of wear in places, but not too bad considering. Approach shot into the 18th a little nerve wracking with the clubhouse so close to the green!

Overall a great course that is pretty rewarding to play.
