Course needs some attention
Stunning location and views on this undulating course. Not the longest but tight in places so demands accuracy off the tee.
Course needs some attention - greens were rock hard, uneven and very hard to stop a wedge on. Played more like a links course. Fairways had plenty of unrepaired divots, as did the tees.
None of the tees had yardage or the hole numbers marked so install an app or use a GPS watch to avoid guesswork,
Golf
Very nice course and great value for money. Will definitely play again
A tranquil course
A nice Round of golf ,some tricky holes ,everyone was very polite ,
The course is very tranquil and quiet ,I arrived late but the pro was understanding and let me play ,
The only problem with this course is that the Tee`s aren`t numbered
Thank you for a nice round of golf ,Greens and fairways were perfect
Playing really well
Greens at summer pace. Fairways running close to summer conditions - good run-on. Recent dry weather has helped. During Covid lockdown new hard surfaces have been installed from tees to fairways - a great improvement which will stop mud, wear and tear when it gets wetter. A well-maintained course which should not be missed at this time of year.
Attractive course
Lovely setting and views with attractive clubhouse. Very friendly and helpful staff member.
Despite not playing very well I enjoyed this course. It played longer than the yardage suggests as very hilly in places. Keep fit for Cardiac Hill, aptly named I should add.
There are opportunities to make birdies when the greens are softer but were very firm and quick so difficult to hold the ball on the green. In defence, I'm not Dustin Johnson and we've had a long dry spell and windy of late so the greens have dried out. Extra watering please Mr Groundsman !!!
Due to Covid 19, I am unable to comment too much on facilities regards the clubhouse but a nice seating area at the back overlooks the 18th green and putting practice area. A cold beer after would have been perfect with a view across the course.
However, there is extra car parking a short walk away when the main is full. Buggies available and a net practice area between the shop and 1st tee to loosen up.
Will definitely come again, if only for that beer !
Enjoyable
A nice spring day and the course looked great although the greens had recently been treated but putted well.
An interesting course with some surprises despite being relatively short.
Well worth a look and i would certainly be back.
Too many temporary greens
Played the course a few years ago , so I thought I would give it a go again. Weather was abysmal but I have never played a course with so many temporary greens. There were no signs saying which hole was which or where they were located, so I was playing off memory. The course is straddled by a road with holes 1 to 7 one side and 8 to 18 on the other, you would need to be a genius to work out what hole was which if you were a first time visitor...
OK but only ok
17/18 holes were temporary greens. Yet still £25. Won't be going back. No signs or posts to say what hole you must are on. I understand its a members course but little touches. Some will like it, I used it to practice my tee shots.
Friendly staff at the starters hut.
17 temporary greens
Very disappointed to play a twilight round for £25 with no prior warning that there were temporary greens on 17 of the holes. Every green looked perfectly fine. Why not have at least 9 of the greens in play and alternate the following day if the aim was to protect them from over use? At least warn players beforehand as we would certainly not have played know the course was almost totally GUR.
May to now - 2 very different courses. Well recovered
Considering we played this course straight after lockdown and said 'won't be playing here for another year's, what a a tranforrmation. Last year it was almost underwater and there were 7 temp greens at beginningbofvthe year. Came back in early June and the greens were unplayable. Weeds, patches, growth you name it greens were suffering from it. Tees were wet and not rotated and course was in a mess. However few reviews in Oct persuaded us to have another look. Though damp and a bit spongy the greens had plenty of growth but even and winter true. Fairways not a patch in sight and not soaking. Tees were all very playable. Well done for the turnaround.
Little gem of a course
Lovely, compact course in excellent condition. Was first out at 8am but had a team of leaf blowers ahead clearing the autumn leaves for us. Lots of variety, hills and challenges and managed to whizz round in 3h20mins. Was given some info about course lay out etc by staff which was welcomed, but I guess there could be a few more signs pointing the way to next tee boxes as we struggled with a few and the practice nets next to first tee could do with a few repairs but these didn’t deter from a great morning. Will definitely be returning.
Little Gem
Short course but made difficult by narrow fairways and small target greens. Well established looking course and good value at £25. Not packed out like some other courses nearby so you'll get a smooth round in the week.
North Downs
A really lovely course. Well thought out and a good walk round.
A very friendly team in the pro shop and club house. Definitely worth a visit.
Fantastic greens and some challenging holes which required good course management.
Excellent!!
A Surrey gem! Conditions were perfect and so pleasing to see how the greens had recovered from early season problems. Always made to feel very welcome by all staff at North Downs. Will be returning on a regular basis for sure.
