Great Course for Beginners
A well kept course that has open fairways and good greens all for a great price. An ideal course for beginners or high handicappers.
Twilight golf is worth every penny!
The staff are genuine and friendly, the members are chatty and encouraging, we hadn’t booked buggies before we arrived but they were brought out of the shed for us.
Playing the course is excellent, the patrons are always up for a quick chat and don’t mind waiting for you to rescue the odd wayward shot and the greens are beautiful, even in the rain!
The only downside is the lack of a driving range to warm up before the round but I genuinely can’t praise Bullwell Hall Golf Club enough. We might make it a regular thing to play there and I recommend that you try it out too.
Rain stopped play
Only managed 9 holes as we had to cry off due to the torrential rain. Shame as despite the weather the front 9 had played well without too many puddles
Absolute steal, best 18 years under £10
Should preface with the morning of our round it rained cats and dogs.
Also if you are reading this and you found a Wilson sand wedge, can I have it back.
We payed £8 each for 18 holes so we were going into this expecting the worst but we were surprised at how good this course was! Each hole felt different, nice wide holes and the greens felt fantastic.
Pros-
Value for money, for what you are paying you expect the worst but arguably they could be charging 2-3 times more.
Location, really close to the city, while being nice and easy to get to
Interesting course, Each hole feels very different, every hole got us to go “oh okay this could be fun” and by the end of it we were excited to go to the next hole to find out what was in store for us
Great views, for saying we were in a city with he course had some real nice views at the boxes. Shout out to hole 17 for having such an amazing vista into the hole
Pen-Upon check in they gave us a score card and pen. It’s amazing how many times I’ve turned up to fancy courses only them to get confused that I may need a pen.
Cons
Needs some TLC,The bunkers could use some love and fairways were eh. Some tea boxes were warm out and the signage at times was lost to the weather
Easily lost, make sure you have the map handy at all time, mainly so for the hole 4 and 15
Public, this may sound elitist but the course is a popular walking spot and also next to a field where football is player. It’s common to prepare your swing and a dog pops out of a bush to say hello, we are sure about 10 minutes for a rogue child to leave the fairway.
Looking pretty decent considering the lack of rain
Played on and off here for years. Course and clubhouse so much better since being taken over. Lot more care going into the course and the greens looking pretty green. Tees could do with a bit of work but I’m sure it’ll come. Course is pretty open without too many hazards so suits all grade of player. Great value for money and a nice pint in the cafe/clubhouse.
Enjoyable course
Really enjoyed playing the course. Testing for all levels of golfers but would definitely recommend. Only down side would be that the greens are a bit rough and could be smoother.
Golf
Nice friendly staff
Round was going well till the 12th when I got stuck behind
4 ball that’s golf
Bang for your buck
Booked to play here for our inaugural hackathon (new don’t get to play much), and I was very pleasantly surprised. It’s not a complex course by any stretch, in fact it’s very straightforward. Very flat, and wide fairways. Conditions were excellent based on the price and we’ve said we’re going back more regularly because of it! Well played BHGC!!!
Great value for money.
Parkland, scenic, relatively flat and easy walking. Tree lined but wide fairways. Soggy in parts after rain. A work in progress but course maintenance work much in evidence. Would benefit from more definition of fairways, improved greens (slow) and signage. Relatively short course but a good mix of holes - numbers 15, 16 and 17 providing a stern test. Despite drawbacks course is much improved and well worth support. At a Golf Now green fee of £10 to £12 it is deserving of the accolade of "best value for money" course around and well worth a visit.
Good
The conditions for the week running upto the game were appalling, so the course was wet. Holes 15 and 17 were the worst. When the course has had chance to dry, I am sure it will be a lot better.
Little things to improve... no benches and few litter bins. Greens were well cared for, especially bearing in mind the recent conditions.
Nottingham City not Bulwell Hall
The course was coming out of winter but even then was not great. Fairways were very muddy (not wet) and the greens were dry but grass on them extremely long like a Tee. The tees were poor but worked, could have done with grass cutting so the ball didn't disappear below it. The greens were small. Bunkers were good.
Never again
First time playing at bullwell , first impressions on pulling into the car park that resembled a battlefield with the huge potholes and lakes of water covering the car park!
No pro shop just a small selection of items for sale on the bar where you check in. Staff were very friendly and polite and I can say they make great coffee and breakfast, but the course is in almost unplayable conditions! The tee boxes were awful as were the fairways, greens the same and what resembled bunkers were holes with little sand in them. I’m no snob and I have played a lot of courses but this was simply the worst I have ever seen! Such a shame as the pictures on line simply do not match up to the expectation, I also know it’s winter and we’ve had a lot of rain but this was on another level bad!
Worth it for the price.
A good up and down co it as to practice on. Some better signage would certainly help. 6th green to 7th fairway is a maze and same for 14th to 15th. The people in front of us got lost. Enjoyable otherwise.
Standard Parkland Course
Very open, plain parkland course. Has some potential to be a good course if invested in a few more features and rakes for the bumkers
Excellent course
Bulwell Hall is brilliant for the price me and friend payed 7 pounds each for an 18 hole course.
The course is flat which is excellent for the not so fit type. The food was excellent.
I can strongly advice this course for anybody 10/10
Excellent 19th Hole
Course is awful. Could be a field. Brilliant food and drink.
My local
I have been playing this course for over 30years on and off, so I have seen the old times, the dark redevelop times and now the great again times .Last summer I regained my love for the game and played at Bulwell well over a dozen times with a band of my oldest friends. We love coming here , not only was the course back to its best over the summer but also the service is always great to.
We had a big breakfast before our round Monday and that was grand to , great value and tasty.
Keep up the good work, and see you soon x.
