Oundle Golf Club

Oundle is a great test of where your game is at. Great layout.

Today would have got 5 stars again except pace of play was very slow (5hour round) stuck behind 4 ball and greens were very hard and could have done with a good cut.

Apart from that looking forward to playing oundle again in coming weeks.

Great course for first outing of the 2022 season, will be returning

I've eyed up this course for many many months, it is after just 30 minutes up the road from me. I find myself with a blank afternoon in the diary so decide to go for it.

Turn up at the course, book in at the pro-shop and get a scorecard - oh? There's no course map on it. Luckily I use a phone app to track my play.

Walk to the first, superb view and off we go.

It only gets better, lovely wide fairways, some challenging drives over "ravines" and greens in excellent condition.

I'll be playing here again and bringing friends with me.

Challenging holes and good course management suit me to the ground! Always play my best golf here, aided my the great quality of the course.

Very good course layout greens at the minute are a bit poor very pitted and uneven

I decided to play a one ball on a cold January Saturday afternoon. At £25 I wasn’t expecting too much but I was pleasantly surprised. Firstly, the course was very well drained, so no boggy areas of having to constantly take relief.

Each hole has a ball cleaner which made a load of difference given the time of year.

There are some really interesting holes with plenty of undulations and elevation changes. The greens were in great condition and all had a consistent role.

There’s a few holes which are very different to the rest of the holes. A couple of holes share a large very undulating green whereas all of the others are pretty circular and flat.

There’s a strange par 5 late on in the round, which is very tricky. You need to take a short iron off the tea to avoid sticking it in a large hedge, before having to sling a high draw up a big hill to the shared green. Interesting.

There’s a great driveable par 4 on the back 9 which is a real risk reward hole with a brook down the right and scrub to the left leaves you exposed.

You finish up on the 18th and the green is protected by some huge mounds and a bush in the middle of the fairway. No other hole is like this so it feels a bit of a strange way to finish.

An all round good round of golf though!

Had a great round of January golf. Considering recent weather the course was in good Nick. Plenty of challenges but well worth a visit.

Made to feel very welcome in the pro shop.

We played this course and we’re unaware of a partial course closure until we were on the 5th tee I was told to contact yourselves by the pro shop which I did on Twitter but have had no response

Closed the bar so no drink after round at 130pm !

Chap in the pro shop was very friendly and helpful pre round.

The course was in great condition. Each hole offers a different challenge, will definitely be back

The course was in fantastic condition. It has varied and challenging features set in beautiful woodland. I would definitely recommend it and play there again.
