a gem in surrey
Like a few comments, the club house and the front of it (putting green ...) isn't very welcoming. but the staff was very friendly and helpful. Got my 30 balls warmup and head to 1st tee (with banner as there was lady comp that day). Tee box are all fantastic and manicured (played yellow gent), the course look like you will drive long and the challenge will be easy (it is not). Well positioned bunker, great great (pretty even in term of speed) no bump on them.Follow the dry of the past few weeks, the course is green and in fantastic condition. Only negative for me, it is obvious the course management team has reduce the amount of bunker, which is sad as sometimes it would have made the course prettier and more challenging. Go people ! it's a great place that worth the price I pay (30£ Tuesday 8h30). I will go again .
Bunkers
Good course apart from bunkers which were awful. It looked like they had been completely neglected for some time as they might as well make them all GUR. Surely they can resolve this .
long and lovely
The course has some very nice views over London in the distance, along with some very picturesque holes. 16th is very long and uphill, there's a 230 yard par 3 to contend with but I think the 3rd is my favourite, over a valley with water, up a nice long incline to the green. Fairways and greens in good condition, plenty of trees and long grass to avoid. The course seems to be quite empty at the moment so no-one chasing and no-one to wait for in front. Lovey.
Challenging course but not too
Course in good condition. Some challenging holes. Greens good.
Looks easy but she bits
First impressions where a bit tatty on arrival putting green was in pretty poor condition.
I managed to play with a nice member named grerry. The fairway where in excellent condition when I eventually hit one!!! tee box ok greens inregation system had broken so where a bit patchy but a good pace. The course looks like you should mash it but she's pretty hard long.... Bit more TLC on the front of house tee box and the greens it will be a really nice course. Supper value thou
Played the course today in miserable conditions, but found the course challenging enough. The holes are well laid out and signposted with some forgiving fairways, if you can keep away from the trees.
Greens have clearly been worked on and todays rain will help in their improvement.
Very simple booking system is always a plus and very pleasant staff helped us enjoy the day.
Will certainly recommend to friends to play
Could be a good course but needs lots of work
On arrival no Pro in Pro shop, had to book in with bar staff for a 15:04pm tee time.
Course layout is ok but it was noticeable after a couple of holes the lack of a sprinkler system in place around the greens or watering of the tees and the rest of the course meant it looked and played like the course was after a long summer and not the end of April.
Patches of bare hard ground on the fairways meant playing off of poor lies after a good tee shot felt like a bit of punishment rather than reward.
Bunkers visited (2) were hard with lots of stones and not a lot of sand in them.
Noticd the clubhouse was locked up after we finished on the 18th at 18:30pm with the last of the staff waiving at us as we headed to the clubhouse for a drink.
Good job the round only cost £11 per person as at the full price would have felt well ripped off.
Shame as the course looked good from their website before the tee time was booked.
Nice course, that's all
On arrival we stood in the pro shop for 10 minutes with no staff. Then when going to the bar to ask a guy came to serve us in the pro shop. He didn't tell us anything, first tee, rules, facility's. Simple things make a difference. Big let down there.
The range was decent and close to the club house and first tee which was a plus.
The course itself was nice, a good challenge and nicely laid out. Some great holes which required a bit of thought to play off the tee with well placed bunkers. The only bad things on the course was some old bunkers were now just grass bunkers and the greens were not good. They were quick, but had dents all over them, not due to pitch marks but possibly due to dry weather. They need looked after. Disappointing considering the rest of the course. Hit a good putt and get strokes added to your round! Unfortunate!
Needs looking after
The course has a good layout and is long which is nice so close to London. But most of the hazards were not there: bunkers had no sand and ponds had no water. Staff were inattentive. Course could be really great if it was taken care of, but it is way overpriced at the moment,
Very good course
Played 4 ball greens being worked on but not bad some long holes but nice layout be even better in summer
Very foggy on day
When we arrived course was closed due to fog. Had coffe in club house and course opened 45 minutes later. The course was very wet underfoot some temporary greens although we were assured there weren't any temps. Lots of bunker now filled in with grass or GUR. May return in the summer.
Won't find a course in better condition this winter!
Very much enjoyed the experience of playing at Park Wood on Saturday, it was bitterly cold but all the greens were open and they had done a great job to make it playable despite the weather.
Can't wait to go back when it's warmed up and would recommend it highly to golfers of all levels.
Hidden course with potential
This is a pleasant course with potential to improve. First warning is make sure your satnav knows where it is going because this course is well hidden and, though there are signs, one of our group got lost. The breakfast was good and speed of service good. The course was well presented but I would suggest there is still plenty of work to do but once completed, this is a course worth revisiting. There are quite few challenging par 3s and a par 5 towards the end that you will be pleased to par. Overall, well worth the effort and look forward to seeing some course improvements.
Good condition for time of year.
We had a 3 ball deal for £10 each with a 12 noon tee time. Excellent value. Unfortunately fog came in at 3.50 and we had to finish at the 17th. Normally would have completed in daylight. Bunkers and greens in good shape for mid December. Course was very quiet and no pressure from other players. Good bacon / sausage rolls in clubhouse, friendly staff. Will return to play here again this winter.
Good course hidden away
Really like this long, challenging course. As other reviews have stated, its a bit 'rough round the edges' with lots of bunkers that look permantly under GUR. Still very interesting and greens weren't bad.
great course
first time playing this course and I will certainly be back. the layout is good with some challenging holes.
the only negative I have is that we were booked to tee off at 7.04 and were still sat at the front gate at 7am for them to be opened - no apology from any one. While we were waiting at the gate the club treasurer was out walking his dogs and said that this is a common problem
Good test
Course is a great test. Lots of different holes and all quite challenging. Not sure the stroke index truly reflects difficulty of the hole in question but still. Staff and members are very nice and extremely welcoming. Really considering joining this place. Food is excellent and it's going eat value for money.
A Good Long Walk!
I enjoyed the round. Lakes always add to the experience. The practise ground was long & wide & not far from the Club House & 1st tee. The course has doglegs left & right & is undulating with required carries over the occasional lake. At 6526 yards off the yellows its a good test of your golf & your fitness! Additional yardage markers on the Tees would help with club selection. Quite a number of the Bunkers have been decommissioned which is a shame. I would definitely return though.
