A decent maturing course golf
T’s and Greens in good nick, greens were slow mind! Many bunkers left to over grow and empty of sand, but over all a good course with some nice and challenging holes
Worth a round !!
minor tweaks
• good length, great layout, usually in very good condition;
• it would be great to see a bit of TLC done midweek, the fairways seem to be overgrown on Fridays;
• management should start looking into dynamic pricing: i think it's silly to have the course empty on a Friday afternoon when you could fill it up with £15-£18 twilight green fees. keeping it around £30 all day Mon-Fri will most likely end up causing you a loss of revenue throughout the summer;
just not very nice
Ok - so COVID means its not 100% operational, but that's the same for other courses in the area too
The course was littered with beer bottles, not nice
OK course, OK condition, Poor greens
There are far better and nicer courses in the areas for the same price, Woldingham around the corner is about 100% nicer for the same price
Unbelievable slow
Firstly not a £40 course, although in better condition and the 1st cut has actually seen a cut then previous round here.
8 min intervals between tee times is not enough. We started 3 holes behind nearest group. Soon caught them up in 4 holes.
We then waited before every shots.
Painful.
Another example of a greedy club who try and squeeze in to many tee times in a day.
God help the members if that’s what they have to put up with. A group of which picked up and left at the 11th they were so fed up with the pace.
Either get a Marshall out their or just stop booking 4 balls 8 mins apart !!!
All in Order
Course in decent Knick. Greens in good condition. Rough is penal especially with hard fairways sending the ball racing through. Barely anyone on the course so made good time. Good value for money.
Surprised by condition of the greens
So, we can play again, this so unpredictable game. I played this course last year and it has been in very good condition. But now after lock down is over for us Golfers . I found that condition of the greens is shocking, bounce and slow, long grass or no grass at all. Ball doesn’t roll as it should on almost all greens. Very surprised, because some other clubs I played since lock down finished, they had perfect greens. And the price to play smaller.
Cracking Course, well worth playing!
Great course, played quite a few in and around London, I play off 14 and this truly is a test, thick rough will greet you if you miss the fairway but if your straight off the tee there’s a good score to be had. Solid 6500+ years course and if your a decent player it well worth a go
Too slow
Late night round booked for 6pm. Confirmation email said I had until 9.30pm but when I turned up I was told the gates to the car park shut at 8.30pm. There were too many players packed in ahead and the pace of play was unbearably slow. Played through a couple of groups but it was pointless. No ranger to hurry people along. I played the front 9 again just to get my money’s worth before time ran out. Nice enough front 9.
Poor!! Not worth the money!!
£35 for the round was way over priced considering the course was in shocking condition. 5 and a half hours it took 2 of us to get round due to the constant hold up at each hole after they over booked. Won’t be playing here again!!!
Nice layout , fairways very good
First game after lockdown restrictions lifted. Fairways really nice , greens need work , but it’s to be expected after this awful lock down situation.
Staff extremely friendly , which is a big plus at a course. First time I have played the course , but I will definitely come back.
Usual municipal standard course, greens very patchy and had disease, bunkers unplayable. But you have to bear in mind that most staff would have been furloughed.Very busy 3 or 4 groups waiting on a number of tees,5hr round at moment, not very well organised at start told just to join the queue.
Ok ...
Post Covid so generally just let happy to be playing.
A few nice holes however for the most part your standard local GC.
Bunkers awful (this wasn’t just 2 months worth of lack of Covid maintenance). No sand.
Rough was incredibly thick and unfindable for many average shots which seems harsh however expect this to improve once staff are brought back in from Furlough.
Greens slow but ok.
Good friendly welcoming staff.
Overall was ok.
Good, but long!
Day after lock down so was pleased to get back into the swing.
This course was in good knick considering just opened, but rough was very very thick and had to be watchful when missing fairways.
Be warned....this is a very long course and with no trolleys to hire carrying ones bag is a slog (my trolley wheels has come off in March!).
All in a good course with spectacular views of the City.
Today I played park wood for 1st time. It was day back after covid19 and overall was a good day. The play was slow but to be expected as people were probaly rusty haha. Greens were not great but probaly due to lack of time to prepare. Overall course was nice layout with some really fun holes. Most disappointing part of day was £30 to play. Way to expensive for a course of this nature. £12-15 would be about right
Needs work
To get to the course involved going along lots of narrow roads, well that's where my sat navigation sent me. On arrival it appears like a work in progress. Arrived about 10.30am, there were only 6 cars in the car park and a massive clubhouse. After eventually finding my way to the reception I booked in and got my card and bag tag and was informed there were 3 temporary greens.
First hole was okay but when I was approaching the second I couldn't see the flag, after playing a general shot towards the green I walked towards the ball and noticed a flag lying on the floor with the base of it in the hole on a temporary green. After that I gave up scoring.
The rest of the round was similar with at least half of the flags lying flat with their bases in the hole, this had resulted in a lot of damage to the holes (Originally I thought this was golfers using their putter to retrieve the ball from the hole ) Also most holes were off the mats making the course shorter/easier
Generally the course was short and many similar feeling holes, wide fairways flanked by fir trees, lots of little bodies of water but most not incorporated into the holes.
I feel this could be a reasonable course, but it needs a bit more attention to detail and some finishing touches . It feels a little soulless at the moment.
Pros fairways were good and most greens were true, holes well separated from each other
Cons poor general signage , damaged putting cups/holes, flags on ground, teeing off mats, some temporary greens
Avoid this golf course.
One of my local golf course and it’s sad to say this is rubbish golf club. The car park/clubhouse are really below average, the whole place is like a building site and has been for s long time, very slow progress and the building that has been house is not up to standard.
The course itself is not maintained to the standards it should be for the green fee your paying, the greens had bear patches and grass is too long, looks like they’ve never changed the sand in the bunkers and the fairways would be classed as rough at moth other clubs. Just the whole place is run down in general even after the building work that’s been done.
Avoid the place, way over priced for this standard of golf course! You’ll be left disappointed!
Steve
Lovely course which is in great condition. Good test of golf for all with consistent greens. We played from 4pm on a Sunday afternoon and didn't bump into another player, millionaire golf at its finest.
A nice course, challenging in the right way
I played this course for the first time recently in May 2019 and was not disappointed. 1st to get the negatives out of the way. The clubhouse is under reconstruction therefore the amenities are limited (e.g putting green under construction). What is completed inside however looks good. Also make sure you approach it from the south of Chestnut Avenue and not north or you’ll have a long slow journey up a very bumpy dirt road to contend with before you play.
The course itself is beautiful and challenging in equal measure. Set in mature Parklands it has great views over the Kent and Surrey countryside. It’s nice and long and we found it in excellent condition and several holes call for a full driver to score well. If you hit wayward shots into the trees there is a reasonable chance of finding your ball as the grass isn’t too thick in the main. On a few occasions however you might find yourself looking for longer than you’d like for slightly errant shots in the 1st cut due to newly cut grass. The greens run pacey and true and are very well-kept. Bunkers are easy to play out, my only gripe being that some could do with a little more sand.
I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. I happened to lose my 8 iron somewhere on the back nine and only noticed on the 16th. It was well past 7 pm but a quick call to the pro shop and the chap leant me a buggy to re-trace my steps. It had been found by a very friendly member.
This course is well worth a visit. It is long and you do feel like you’ve had a game by the end of it.
Nice course
Some good challenges on this course with par 3s over water. Bunkers are not great as they are rock hard so hard to play out around the greens. We had a 07.56 tee off and was nice a quiet so round was at a nice pace
