Great Municiple course
Played Regents park many times and its a great course especially during the winter months
Several of the front 9 holes down near the railway line are closed in winter due to drainage but you have the option of playing the remaining front nine twice and then the back nine or just two loops of the back nine, which we played. Course has held up well and the greens are reasonsbly good compaired to other courses. Great for beginners, you can open up your shoulders on your drives as the fairways are wide and well maintained would play again.
Newly refurbished clubhouse is a bonus and the food is good. But it was shut this time for the installation of the decking area.
Not what it looks like on the pictures
Shocking. Only good thing is a driving range onsite and the proshop was decent. The course was like a tractor had been over it. We had to play the back 9 twice. On the 13th midplay 2 maintenance guys started digging up the green. 2nd time round another 2 maintemance guys were throwing gravel onto pathways blasting music out. Then driving across a number of fairways again in midplay. Not worth the £20 pricetag.
Not how it looks in the photos
3 of us chose to play here as looking at the pictures uploaded to GoNow its looked a reasonable course for the money, i drove 2 hours to play this course with a friends who was passing through the area. 5 of the first 9 holes were waterlogged so we were advised to olay the back 9 twice. No winter tee boxes. The tees were in a bad state. The fairways looked like they had 4x4's run over them very very muddy, you even had members driving around in buggys when it was really wet. Then on the 13th hole we had 2 maintenance digging up the green whilst we were in play. And another pair of maintenance guys driving round in a offroad buggy and tracktor scattering gravel which was good but what wasnt good was the music they were blasting out. Even driving over the fairway midplay. Really not professional at all. The proshop wasnt bad, the clubhouse was closed, the driving range looks like its been used for banger racing just mud.
much improved
played the course 12 months ago and was in a poor condition especially the front 9. . however this time around its much improved and deserves more than the current 2star rating. course could be cheaper than the current £25
Unbelievable turn around from last year
So i was a member at regent park last year and to be quite honest the course wasn't in the best shape so i left to join a different course, yesterday my course was closed so i headed down to regent park again to try it out as i have heard that there has been some mega improvements, what i heard was not wrong i was very surprised to see that the course was in amazing condition (also yesterday it was raining all day) you can tell a lot of hard work has been put into the condition of the course and i take my golf cap off to all the very friendly staff and groundkeepers! I would highly recommend to give regent park another shot and not to take on the reviews which were put on last year as the turn around is unbelievable from then! I will definitely be coming back to play again,
In regards to pricing, to play the full 18 it is only £12 on a weekday, (not sure how much weekend prices are right now but im sure this will be displayed on their website) which is a bargain for what you get considering how much it is to play at other courses these days, the range has also very reasonable pricing and is great to smash a few balls before heading out to the course,
It also has foot golf which is a great alternative to the people who may not be able to swing a golf club as well as they can kick a ball so regent park really has it all
Overall i recommend any beginner, intermediate, highly skilled golfer to try regent park as it fits for every type of golfer and to not read the reviews from last year as it is a completely different course from what it was then,
Good Course
Thought I'd share a review having played this course the last 2 years, it's obviously been improved significantly with greens running on top form and the addition of what looks to be an extensive project of drainage works, youll find this course to be a real gem in Bolton, highly recommend and Enjoy.
great course crap weather!!
Golf course has improved a ton sinc last year. Greens better and draiange better even with torential rain. nice clubhouse aswell. great service
Better Value elsewhere
Course is ok. A nice par 5 down the side of the driving range to start (watch out for the range balls) and a few nice par 3’s other than that quite an average course with other courses in the area offering better value for money.
Value excellent condition good challenge
Good challenge a most play great day great value also
Great course
Great course, much preferring the back 9 over the front 9. Sometimes the greens could do with a little work but it’s a really enjoyable place to be.
course looked great upon arrival nice big pro shop , driving range , good parking.
variation of holes was decent , up hill down hill , left and right.
greens are absolutely shocking.
the greens are the worst we have played on , in about 5 years.
won't be playing this course again especially fornthe money we had to pay (£52 for a two ball)
Big investment needed on a good greenskeeper to get this a better course and better experience.
Regent Park
Arrived to be told only back nine open so had to play twice. Not a problem BUT course was in poor condition with lots of work seemingly not complete which after 3 months of lockdown is unforgiveable. Greens bad, two had visible drainage channels across them. Then to make it worse we were on 17th tee and saw 2 groups come down 1st. Captain and his mates. Seems one rule for him. Shocking behaviour. Not worth £25 that's for sure.
Poor
Played here on good Friday, wasn’t informed that the front 9 was closed prior to booking so we could only play the back 9 twice. Some of the greens were unplayable due to drainage works which left trench like features running across the green. Won’t be in a rush to go back here!
Absolutely shocking
I have played this course a lot in the past but it is in a shocking condition. When booking it stated there were about 5 holes out of use, in fact only 9 were open.To start the tees are uneven and sloping as well. Some fairway are in an average condition but it is a quagmire everywhere you walk. It has been churned up by the tractors and the whole course lack drainage. The greens are abysmal as they are bobbly and one looks like it has had a pipeline run through it and hasnt even been re-turfed with new turf, and ive seen less sand on a beach than what is on the putting surface. This was a complete and utter waste of money and I advise anyone thinking of playing here - think again. Myself and playing partner have vowed never, ever to play here again
Terrible conditiom
Like playing in a swamp. Worst condition course I have ever played on. Shame as it’s got real potential
Overall very poor
The golf course alone was in very poor condition, fairways churned up all over as if they had moles the size of a bus, bunkers flooded that bad they were green side ponds, extremely boggy fairways causing balls to constantly plug, greens were in a terrible condition that by the time the ball got to the hole it was concussed and to top it off no warning that 4 holes were closed when booking on the app or by the staff when arriving on site, this was only discovered when on the first tee via a sign. Greens keepers were cutting an empty foot golf course instead of tending to any of the above issues. The course should of been closed and it would of saved everyone the misery. This will be our first and last time visiting Regent Park Golf Club.
