Nice Course
Played as a four ball. Arrived - plenty of parking. Welcoming on arrival. Tees, fairways in very good condition- greens excellent. Half way house good in nice area. Club House full of character. Overall really enjoyable day and will play here again.
First day out of lockdown
It was great to be playing golf again and weather was perfect. Not everything was back to normal, but staff as happy to be back as the players I think. Course was in decent nick considering it was still March, but would have thought they could have done more work on the fairways while closed; lots of bare and bumpy patches and I’m sure will only get worse from here on in. Greens were good , but slow as you’d probably expect. Play a bit slow and suspect due to lots of newcomers to golf who have only watched pros taking ages over a shot and think that’s normal. And golfers, please repair pitch marks! Will definitely go back.
First time
Great course in very wet conditions. Pace was slow but that was more due to the company.
Lovely day
Considering some of the weather recently the staff had done a fantastic job keeping the course in great condition. This was the 2nd time I’d played here in a week and both times the staff were lovely - highly recommend and will be going back soon
Too wet
I’ve played this course a few times and it’s always been in good condition, the weather has stopped the course being cut , yesterday was a very slow round . I’ve only rated on yesterday’s round and at the price I can’t really complain too much
Tough challenge in the wet
Got a hot deal, £16 on a Sunday. The tee times were a bit awry because of late starters. After a heavy nights rain the course was sodden. The final few holes were a quagmire. The drainage leaves a lot to be desired. The greens however, were in excellent condition.
Fair weather course
This is an average pay an play course. In Summer I imagine it plays a lot better but in late October the course was very muddy and the fairways weren’t in great condition. That being said, the course flowed well, albeit wasn’t too challenging and the greens were in good shape (but were slow).
Won’t play again in winter, would be more inclined to play this course in summer.
Mud glorious mud
Buggies should never have been allowed. Course very muddy and no work being done to improve matters from what we could see. Appreciate we have had some rain but steps can be taken to compensate.
Bunkers not raked. Sides of every tee box completely messed up by buggies.
Tees very scruffy
In fairness greens were very nice but in current condition I wouldn’t recommend anybody to play the course
Disappointing given the cost!
First time playing this course, loads of potential but overpriced and under maintained...will not be recommending to anyone.
Nice enough little course
For what they charge, there is a lot to like here. Its friendly, with lots of add ons, and the actual course is reasonable, at least once you get past the rather bland and less well conditioned "links" holes. The greens were a tad slow but true.
Richings review
A very nice public course. Greens in pretty good condition considering course is always fairly busy. Fairways need a little bit of work and there are a couple of tee boxes on the back nine which are aimed straight at trees. Value for money is fantastic and I always enjoy playing here.
Course was boring and in a awful state
Course was boring. The state of the course was the worst i have seen for a long time and wont be going back there in the near future. The tee boxes were uneven and divots everywhere and were replaced. Mud patches everywhere. Fairways were long and rough and couldnt even find a blade of grass on them. Around the greens were terrible and the worst i have seen them in 2020. Bunkers hardly had any sand in them and were full of stones. To me looks like the greenkeepers dont know how to keep the course in good nick.
The course was really in a awful state.. The fairways were thick and had mud patches everywhere. Couldn't get a decent lie on fairway atall. The bunkers didn't have much sand in them plus they were full of stones. Tee boxes were awful hardly couldn't tee up divots everywhere on the tee boxes. Diviots weren't repaired properly. Worse fairways and edge of the greens I played on in 2020. Waste of money and won't be playing there again for the near future and the year.
