Very friendly shop staff, Very sloped, always playing down or up on the ball
The course is well kept but it is on a hill and the fairways are very sloped. So as a fairly new golfer the first 9 on the top of the hill we're very difficult. Good mix of hazards, nice greens but very limited putting and driving practice.
The young man in the shop was an absolute delight, so polite, cheerful and very helpful
Enjoyable Golf
Had our selves a lovely day at Sidmouth
The course was in good condition
And friendly members and staff made it a enjoyable day
Course In Immaculate Condition
Loved playing Sidmouth despite a near calamity at the start when my trolley rolled downhill behind me, fortunately into a fence and not the cars in the nearby car park. The course was in spotless condition. I see a few reviewers have given adverse remarks about the slopes on many of the holes, however I had no issues with them. Any effect the slopes had was negligible and I really enjoyed my round. Great views over Sidmouth, the Jurassic Coast and Lyme Bay
Great views. Interesting layout.
If you don't like hitting the ball on a slope this course is not for you! The fair ways are sloped the greens are sloped your trolley and your ball want to run down the slopes. It was a different but an enjoyable challenge. Given the indifferent weather of 2024 the course was in good condition. The pace of play was slow as there was a few holes that cross fairways.
Lovey course with beautiful views.
May be a little challenging for those who normally play a flatter course.
Well kept course with interesting twists
A ver helpful pro and great to get a free guide for first time players. Only drawback were the regular players who pressed you all the time. A couple times snother ball landed on the greens as i was walking off. Very unprofessional.
Regardless of the regulars i had a good time.
Quality!
Friendly staff, great breakfast, fantastic course … Thanks Sidmouth!
Disappointing
Lovely welcome with very friendly Proshop
However the course is built on side of hills very up and down sloapy and not a flat lie in sight making it impossible to keep ball on fairway’s
Lots of blind tea shots and elevated greens which made shot selection very difficult
There are 7par threes with three in a row and one had a tree smack bang in the middle making hard to achieve
If you do go hear in wet weather ensure you wear spikes as very slippery
All in all poor course not enjoyable at all and would not recommend
To friends
Play Woodbury Instead
Complete waste of money. Pro shop constantly shut, members standing on balcony by the 18th taking bets on the amount of putts it will take beginners to get down in and all round shiii hole. No matter your shot shape or skill level the theme of this course is trying to play against a severe slope which runs throughout the course. Front 9 the slope on your right towards to the clubhouse and sea, and even if you hit a draw/hook, the ball will camber down to the right in the same areas your playing partner is in. Same on the back 9, the slop is now on your left as you head back to the club house. Greens are slow, fairways are bare and tight. 7x par 3s which makes this a Mickey Mouse par 66. The club “boasts good players” but in truth it’s guys who like playing an easy course to have a low handicap who can’t take that handicap anywhere and regularly get beat at other courses up against proper players. The “Jewell in the crown” is the 1st and 18th fairways combining/crossing over. The pro uses the first fairway as a teaching/custom fitting area, so he will probably ask you to use a bright coloured ball on the 18th hole to help you identify your ball amongst his practice balls peppered around your landing area. Oh and don’t forget the balcony of long standing members placing bets on you as you try to putt out. Advice, if you’re desperate to play this course for the views go to Ace Cliff OR just sneak on after 4pm when the pro shop is shut and the course is dead. Alternatively, pay a bit more and go to Honiton or Woodbury.
Okay Honiton instead

Good course
Some tricky par 3s, good overall.

An enjoyable day with my son
Wanting to play a local golf course with my son this turned out to be a perfect day. The weather was pleasant and the course in a reasonable condition after all the wet weather. For people who have not played the course before it could be difficult in parts to know where the next tee was - improved signage would be good. We wanted to eat after playing but only sausage or bacon rolls on offer. Irrespective my son and I had an enjoyable game of golf
