Silkstone, the best course under £30 in the country
This was the second time playing the course and wow, amazing set up. The greens were superb, a real challenge but enjoyable. I found the back 9 a challenge but one the was enjoyable. A test for any golfer, we’ll done to all involved.
Great pint after as well!
A tricky parkland style course
Full disclosure, was my first round after +2 years away from golf !! An attractive and deceptively tricky parkland style course. Not very long, under 7k yards from yellow markers, but lots of variety in hole layout means you won’t be reaching for driver + short iron often. Greens and bunkers well maintained. Staff in pro shop very friendly and welcoming for guests. Pace of play pretty good, complete 18 holes in 3h40m. Excellent practice facilities, some such as driving range only open to members. Will definitely come back.
One of South Yorkshire's finest
Great course and layout. Really well maintained with only some of the link pathways a little rough. Greens knitting together well after tining. Love the variety of holes and the views are surprisingly expansive from a number of holes. A good challenge for all levels as not overly long, but some tight holes requiring a more clever approach than big stick, short iron.
The only downside to this visit was pace of play. Seems there was a society on course that had little concept of slow play or etiquette. Saw their groups stood chatting in the middle of fairways, not moving and noone playing a shot. When suggested they might want to consider those behind, just got abusive response
Stunning
Best course I’ve played in England so far, great greens, challenging layout and really good practice areas/ facilities
Poor
Weather didn’t help but club pro was rude and ignorant didn’t make us feel welcome, some holes were closed which I get but no one told us this on arrival
Lovely course
Played yesterday. It’s an undulating track through mature trees and countryside. Overall, it’s fair, relatively short but very punishing as soon as you go off line - the rough is up and a bad shot often cost two on the scorecard. Well conditioned, although the greens a tad slower than others for the time of year. Very enjoyable, and would happily head back for another round
Lovely course with great scenery
Played here for the first time and was really pleased with the conditions despite all the rain we have had. Impressed with the course layout and will definitely play there again.
Lovely course
I had read the good reviews before playing course and it lived up to expectations! Greens fairways both perfect, 1 of the best courses iv played!!
Immaculate course
Even in torrential rain for the first 2 hours, this was still a fantastic course to play.
The greens were in perfect condition and all had varying levels of undulation which make for a great putting test.
The fairways are also in great condition and feel like a carpets on some holes.
The views around the course are stunning, even with the clouds and rain.
My only regret is that we didnt have chance to have a drink in the clubhouse after.
Brilliant Days Golf
I would highly recommend a visit to this course.
Friendly staff , good resonably priced food and a fantastic course to challenge all levels of golfer. (especially with the wind blowing off the Pennines).
Mint condition
Having played the course before albeit a few years ago, and knowing how nice it was Iturned up really looking forward to playing it again. I wasn't disappointed either as the course was in mint condition. The fairways were like carpets and the greens were immaculate( thankfully slowed down by the rain we'd had but still pretty nippy). I'd definitely recommend to anyone trying this place out as I reckon it's gotta be probably one ofthe nicest course in South Yorkshire.
beautiful course
1st time playing this course wont be my last. fairways were excellent and greens big and fast. love it!!
