Poor greens and tees, with odd holes
Rang the day before playing, turned up and teed off only to find the greens were heavily covered in sand with the pins leass than 3 foot from the fringe so impossibleto putt on. It was disappointing that the staff didn'tinform us of the conditionof the greens. When we booked. Many of the tees were not flat. Some of the holes were very short par 4s, a very long par 3 and long par 5s with some strange holes. The course is relatively open and easy, so suits beginners. Bunkers were in good condition as were the fairways. There are better courses for similar price.
Enjoyed it
Despite the name the course is pretty flat. Parkland style with tree lined fairways. Course maintenance week so green not 100% but still good and true. Some nice short par 4 and some long par 3
Would recommend
Very Dissapointing
Played this course numerous times over the years but it's the first time I played it for a few years. I can honestly say it's the last time I will play it. I know golf courses have suffered from dry weather over the summer but the majority of courses I have played have recovered more than enough and maintained good standards on the greens. This course however, the greens were literally yellow, they had been scarified which I know is normal for this time of year but putting was pretty much pointless, literally hit and hope.
They was incredibly patchy, when the greens are mowed they have been scalped in many areas and you can tell they arent watering the greens enough because the grass is extremely dry.
Really disappointing as the course has fantastic potential and has never been in this condition.
Course in poor condition
Greens are in horrible condition. Very bobbly with bald patches all over makes it almost impossible to putt on.
Pretty decent
It was a pretty decent course was a bit windy that day wasn’t really busy the only issue I had was there was a lot of geese on the fairway of the last hole but the grass was still in good condition. We didn’t really go into the club house much but the shop seemed to be good prices and they had a fridge you could buy bottles/cans of beer from for a decent price
Easy course - very flat
Played this course for the first time, must admit it was in the middle of a warm dry spell we have been experiencing. Easy to find with ample parking available. Clubhouse could be missed as the 1st tee is the opposite side of the car park. Easy sign in with staff very pleasant, food and drink available to take away (drink/snacks) with a small supplies shop available too. The course itself was rather quirky, with quite a few short par 4's. The fairways were dry as expected and the greens were in need of some TLC, the greens are extremely slow. The only defence the course offers are its bunkers and there are plenty of them. The front 9 is rather bland basically marching up and down the field. The second 9 poses more interest from 10 onwards where you do have to engage a little course management. It finishes with a very long Par 5 which is a proper golf hole.
Its another course off my Leicestershire bucket list but not necessarily one i will be racing back too. At £26 on a weekend I suppose it just meets your VFM.
Wonderfully presented course
The greens were green, the fairways short and a fair bounce was given during what may be a very dry summer.
My negatives were lack of information about a map and scorecard location before tee off. So played blind , the course and the amazing green keeper kept us on track. Some lovely tricky shots to work out for me as a fairly new golfer and overall an excellent round of golf.
Watch for Goose droppings, and range balls . But also take in some marvellous scenery shots of a very beautiful course.
Will definitely play again.
Lovely course, lovelier welcome
We have played this course a few times now. It’s challenging but enjoyable. Beautiful and well kept. The staff are so lovely and really make it a welcoming course to visit.reasonable price too.
Highly recommend!
