Enjoyable dry round
Mainly wide open fairways giving you a lot of leaway off the tea, which helps prevent slow play.
My round was during a fine extended dry spell and the course / greens were in really really good condition.
Staff very helpful when my electric trolley broke half way round and even gave me info of a local businesses that could fix it.
Not a difficult course, but why should golf be difficult?
Would love to play again.
Highly recommend
A lovely round of golf on a resort type course in excellent condition which had wide fairways and short rough which kept our pace of play high. Firm small greens gave a true test of putting ability.
We will be back to further appreciate the excellent choice of food and beer in the 19th!
Staining Golf course
STUNNING! In my opinion the best kept course in the area at the moment (weather permitting). Gorgeous scenery and impeccable greens. I would recommend this course to anyone whilst the weather is good. It is commonly know that staining is not great when it rains as it really does bog!
First time on Staining
First time on this course as I was just starting out! Very tough for a beginner but great way to get broken in. When it rains it pours on this course and take a while to get dry. Gorgeous in summer though!
Fast greens
Very nice course quite open but can be very difficult if you hit a waywood shot greens are quick will play here regular now we have played here
Nice layout but wet underfoot front 9
Enjoyable round apart from 4 lost tee shots that should have been fine but were nowhere to be found, can only assume they were plugging in the fairway.
Good value for money
First time playing here, didn't know what to expect, especially with the rainfall in the past week. However, the course was really well presented and maintained and definitely well looked after, a few boggy patches but that's understandable.
Layout was tricky, some open holes, dog legs, tricky par3's. Overall a good test of golf on a really nice layout.
Only downside for me was two groups in front were both super (Mulligan's every hole) slow and wouldn't let me through (solo player).
5+ hour round!!
Was booked on for 12.20 but only tee’d off at 12.50 due to back log or something!! Then only played 14 holes as 4 hours 10 minutes for 3 players to play 14 holes was getting a bit much with 4 holes left!! Would of been over a 5 hour round easily!!
Like it
I have played here four times now. A long course with challenging holes. This time with added hazard of flooding from the adjacent river. Despite this all greens were open and in great condition. A bit heavy underfoot after heavy rain but open
Lovely greens
Was enjoyable day the course was in lovely condition
Very Wet & Boggy
First of all I'd like to see we have played this course a number of times over the summer and found it excellent.
Our last experience after some heavy rain was a different matter. The fairways were very boggy, I lost a number of balls that went straight down the middle from plugging and it became very frustrating after hitting a good shot. Some holes were on the verge of being unplayable.
We were also disappointed to find a 3 ball of beginners teeing off on the 10th, just as we were leaving the 9th green. Proceeded to wait 15 minutes for them to finish the hole which basically wrote off the 10th and 11th, again very frustrating.
Overall I think the course is very good in the summer but I wont be paying £20 per head to play over the coming months. It's just too wet and losing balls from no fault of your own can be frustrating. We will be back in the summer :)
Scenic Course, Greens good, Fairways in Poor Condition
I’ll start by saying that this is a pretty course played on a sunny day. I might go back for another go some other time, as I live fairly locally. The clubhouse is nice, and prices reasonable.
The greens are well turned out, quite fast, but predictable. The tees are in good condition.
However, the fairways were awful. Grass was ridiculously long, and more like the rough you would find on most courses. In fact, I managed to lose 3 balls on the fairways, as they either nestled down in the long grass, or slid under the mown grass that had not been removed from the previous cut.
Perhaps it was just one of those ‘in between’ days, with grass cutting having been tricky after a lot of recent rain. The course was still quite boggy in parts.
Slow and wet
'Well drained course' but was a bog. I don't mind the course conditions so much as it has had heavy rain recently. What I do mind is the lack of ettiquete. Three beginners in front of us who took 30 mins to do the 1st hole and while teeing off we had 3 groups waiting. By the second hole it had been close to an hour and we decided to skip to the 5th. Fairways are like rough, greens and bunkers were immaculate but battered with unrepaired pitch marks.
