Staining Lodge Golf Course

The course was in good condition. Some of the tee beds could do with tidying up and the greens needed a cut so were slow, this could also be due to some of them having been dressed. Some of the distance markers on the fairways to the greens didn’t seem very accurate as my playing partners had GPS watches which differed from the fairway markers. The staff in the shop and restaurant/bar were helpful and friendly.

On the whole I would recommend Staining GC as a good course to play at a reasonable price.

First time played, had read reports of boggy conditions, and following very wet month of May , feared the worst. The course was dry , in excellent conditions and very good greens. Holes are long, plenty of dog legs, make good use of streams and ponds. It was windy and we noticed the trees growth were wind affected. Thoroughly enjoyed the course and blown away by the superb club house. Highly recommended

Well laid out course in good condition for time of year.Excellent club house/bar.Will definitely return.

Course is in great Nick probably due to dry April as usually suffers from water logging

That said, much better tidier course than last year

You can tell they have worked hard to make it more pristine

I really enjoyed Staining Lodge.

It was a decent front 9, but the second 9 is the best part of the course.

The greens & bunkers are superb.

It had rained heavily the day before, but the course had taken the water really well, with only a couple of soft places.

It's open enough for the average golfer, but still puts up a decent test, especially in the 2 club wind we played in.

The guy in the shop & other golfers were all really helpful & polite.

Overall a very pleasant round of golf

I played at Staining last week, for the first time in nearly two years and was pleased with the course conditions. I enjoyed it so much I was back there today. Open and forgiving but not without its challenges.

The fairways are well cut and form, giving plenty of run but also some bad kicks!!

The bunkers are well maintained and have proper light sand unlike other courses with stone filled builders sand.

The greens, well manicured and pretty quick are a massive improvement on previous years visits, in fact the course has improved and I will happily return. Great value too

Hadn’t played here since 2019 when there was some work taking place on the back 9 and a couple of ropey greens. Read recent reviews and decided to give it a revisit and glad I did.

The course is in very good condition and is very well maintained. The greens 1-18 are all pretty good and I found the whole round challenging but enjoyable.

Credit must be given to the green keepers/ ground staff who have clearly put in a lot of hard work.

The fairways were well cut, the greens pretty quick and the bunkers in good condition (sadly I speak from experience!)

The ground was dry and firm and all the hazards tidy too.

I would recommend this course, the bar staff were excellent too. All in all a good day and great value for money

Mainly wide open fairways giving you a lot of leaway off the tea, which helps prevent slow play.

My round was during a fine extended dry spell and the course / greens were in really really good condition.

Staff very helpful when my electric trolley broke half way round and even gave me info of a local businesses that could fix it.

Not a difficult course, but why should golf be difficult?

Would love to play again.

A lovely round of golf on a resort type course in excellent condition which had wide fairways and short rough which kept our pace of play high. Firm small greens gave a true test of putting ability.

We will be back to further appreciate the excellent choice of food and beer in the 19th!

STUNNING! In my opinion the best kept course in the area at the moment (weather permitting). Gorgeous scenery and impeccable greens. I would recommend this course to anyone whilst the weather is good. It is commonly know that staining is not great when it rains as it really does bog!

First time on this course as I was just starting out! Very tough for a beginner but great way to get broken in. When it rains it pours on this course and take a while to get dry. Gorgeous in summer though!

Very nice course quite open but can be very difficult if you hit a waywood shot greens are quick will play here regular now we have played here
