Slow play and Etiquette
I was playing as part of a two ball and we had a four ball in front of us. We never pushed the group in front as nobody behind us until we got to the 11th tee and the four ball didn't let us through. We asked at 12 why and they said there is a four ball in front of them. Not the point as we were a two ball. We had to wait around while they looked for balls etc. Ruined the round for us and such bad etiquette.
First Time Playing
First time playing this course and was very happy with what Surrey National had to offer.
Well maintained tee boxes and fairways however my only downside was the greens were very slow, this was probably down to the couple days rain before the round though so can't blame that on course management.
Cannot wait to go back and try and better my score though. Would recommend for players of all abilities however the hilly course might be a challenge for elderly or ill health.
Nice Course shame about the wait
Nice course and i'd like to play again but be careful. They don't have enough space between tee off times and it basically ruined the round.
All in all a decent course but they have tried to get too many on to make the cash.
I suggest playing during the week.
I will give it another go then.
Good course for wayward shot golfers as not many large trees and fairly open
Back again
We arrived early for breakfast , which is good value for your money and then after we warm up on first tee . We proceeded to play the fairway in very good condition with excellent green they were true and quiet quick , the golf ball roll on line , the first cut of rough about 1" deep and the second cut about 2" to 3"" deep so if you hit your ball in there it was quiet difficult to find as a lot of clover and the ball sat down , the bunkers were in good condition with the odd one GUR due to a lot of water in them . The green keepers were on the course doing maintenance...
Excellent
Best all round course played for some time and play weekly at different courses. Challenging, greens and fairways in great condition. All of our four ball really enjoyed the game
Nice modern course
Plenty of hills and bunkers to make things interesting. we had a thoroughly nice afternoon in the sunshine. The greens were good enough for the contours to break in the ball line. Everything was well looked after and the fairways were cut to a good length.
I suppose the only negative thing i would say was it was a shame about the swearing from the players. I am no prude, but i found that some of the guys did not understand course etiquette. Shame really
Tough scoring coarse
Played here quite a few times before and always in good condition ,quite a hilly coarse and greens though generous in size are very undulating ,tough course to score low but are fair ,usually have good deals later in day Inc buggy which you probably need, all in all pleasant day and excellent facilities.played to my handicap of 16 so good day .
Course was in reasonable condition but greens were far too slow although the grass was not long.
Nice course
Whilst I loved the golf course, the time I teed off and the amount of players in front meant that I only managed 9 holes, one day i hope to return and play the full 18.
Best course so far
Beautiful setting and extremely well maintained course. Very impressed and will definitely play again
Greens are in great shape.
Played a 2 ball yesterday. Course was in good condition and played longer in reasonable wind. Both of us played to our handicaps (17 and 10) and the greens were of notable shape......very well looked after. Generally an enjoyable and some times challenging course.
Surrey National
Interesting course - Hilly fairways and challenging bunkers scatter the course throughout. Greens were in good condition. The course is long and due to the extent of its undulation, a buggy is recommended.
This course is a real challenge for all golfers
I have played this course a few times before. We played behind some work friends with a low handicaps (2, 4, and 5) so you can imagine how that would go. But even for someone like me who hasn't been able to get out as much as I used to, and with a high handicap (18), I can honestly say it presented a good challenge for all of us. The conditions of the greens were not up to the usual standards, but that can be forgiven at this time of year. Otherwise the course was in good condition. We all agreed nevertheless that the course presented great value, and a great challenge which at the end of the day is what it's all about.
You might need a golf cart.
Much as the course was in great shape and loved the layout of some of the holes, my 50 year old legs struggled the last few holes. But a great course
Mind you don't get lost !
Well kept course but often very difficult to find the next tee. They don't seem to have heard of 'next tee' signs.
We never did find the 18th tee !
Hole numbers on the sand boxes facing off the tee would also help.
Lovely Saturday
Nice course, but get your hiking boots on as with a prevailing wind and hilly terrain it suits the longer hitter.
Par 5, 5th, one of the best par 5's around, love that hole. Followed by stroke index 1 par 4 6th, a great test for any golfer.
Greens ran true and a good thinking round of golf. For £20 Saturday PM this is a steal!
Course in great condition
First time I've played there- very hilly but in excellent condition greens and fairways. Fantastic location not very far if you don't mind travelling. A gem in the Surrey Hills
Great value for money
Interesting course. Well designed. The bunkers were magnets
In good condition for winter.
Thoroughly recommend.
Surprising amount of single players. Pace was a bit slow- hopefully the 40 second guideline will help as we were stuck behind a 6 practice swing crouching tiger so I think we were unlucky rather than opportunistic administration
