A days golf at West Berkshire GC
This course has improved over the years with some challenging holes and plenty of trees to hide in. The yellow tees let the overall course down a bit as they are not up to the standard of the rest of the course. But overall a nice place and and we will certainly go back.
Great value
Really enjoyed the course a good fair test of golf. Tree lined fairways which meant accuracy was everything. A good long course off the whites but we got asked to play from yellows which had been pushed forward which was a shame, but probably done for the society that was out there. Not sure what time they went out but as a two we caught them after 6 holes and the round ground to a halt. Ended up around 4 hours which I suppose ain't bad but felt much slower as we had another 2 ball behind pushing a little but when offered to go through did understand the position and declined. Club house quite small and no golf shoes allowed which is strange these days.Did have a sandwich and couple of beers. Bar staff friendly but lady in the kitchen needs a lesson in customer service. Spend 10 mins sorting sauces out while customers queued. One guy actually walked away in disgust and she was there stood next to us but didn't even acknowledge we were there. I'll be with you in two minutes would have done but just ignored until she was ready. And a job that could have been done any time. Don't let that put you off the course however it was good, not what I would call manicured but tidy enough.
A hidden jewel
This was the 2nd time we played this course. Thought we would go back as so much enjoyed the first time and we were not disappointed. Great VFM and definitely would go again
You will not be disappointed!
I booked this course for my son and l. I hadn't played for 9 years, so we had a buggy. Wise decision for me!
It was an absolute pleasure to play this course. It's long and if you are a big hitter beware of the strategily placed bunkers. Well thought out course and will definitely play there again.
Staff were very, very friendly and the amenities were first class.
Highly recommend.
good day out.
nice course.
good mix of holes.
nice club house.
Very friendly people, good course for mid handicap golfer
Really enjoyed playing, not too tight but quite long, facilities are good.
We are mid range golfers and got round in early 90's.
definitely returning
Beautiful testing course
West Berks is a lovely course set in beautiful countryside. It is extremely well maintained with friendly staf. A small but well stocked pro shop and comfortable club room with sheltered area outside the room to enjoy a post round drink at a reasonable price. O her club members are very friendly and helpful.
Lovely course with really nice staff
We arrived early and were able to tee off straight away. The course is quite long and when we played was in need of rain so bounces could be a bit of a lottery. Par 3's slightly dosappointing due to lack of challenges. Overall for the price teriffic value for money.
West Berkshire
Great course in a lovely setting. Course was in very good condition for April and played well. Only disappointment was that a number of Tees were out of play so the course was shortened somewhat.
Staff were very freindly and food was prepared to order and like the rest of the offering was excellent value for money.
Will certainly treturn
Great value for money
All in all really enjoyed the golf course, played with a friend in a 2 ball, I play off 6 him off 22. It took us around 3.5 hours for the round, during which we were allowed to play through 2 groups which makes a change to come accrosss considerate golfers.
The course itself was well presented with a good layout, my only criticism would be that the bunkers were horrendous! Some had no sand, some had loads, but worst of all is that they were all full of stones - such a shame as the fairways, greens and even the rough were in decent shape!
We hit a few balls on the small range before we started but there was also a reasonable chipping and putting area.
When I compare this course for £15 to others I have played for significantly more money I feel this is a great course for a reasonable round!
Decent
The course was frozen due to overnight temperatures so it was hard to tell the quality of the greens. However, the holes were challenging. I would play again when the weather is better.
