Late-Summer review
I’ve played this course several times over the past year and it’s certainly showing signs of suffering from over-play during the winter and the recent hot weather with the fairways being burnt up but also very bare in patches.
Greens and tee boxes pretty good, staff very friendly and layout interesting. Pace of play is always good here (<4 hours for 18 holes). Bunkers also unfortunately full of stones.
Slow play
The course is great, first 9 holes were a little slow, back 9 a group of 6-8 young lads jumped in front of us in buggies and we were almost every hole 2 groups waiting to tee off while they were messing about, 3 hours on the back 9 😡 this let the course down massively.
Very disappointing
Lovely course but harsh layout
I really enjoyed a tough round, however as a first time visit I found that virtually on all but 2/3 holes, I had a blind shot.
As the course was backed up, not only was it a tough shot (luckily I had a buggy and could whizz up a hill to see what I was aiming at), but it was potentially dangerous as you often didn’t know if the group ahead were clear as most homes didn’t have a bell.
This shouldn’t take away from the lovely course though. If I play again it would be so much easier the next time.
Excellent course
The course was in excellent condition
The staff were brilliant
Really enjoyed our round
Thanks
Some long challenging holes.
Well kept & looked after.
Good Staff and Great Staff
Firstly, Golf Now need to change the postcode for this course as it was incorrect.
Although we were late to tee off, the lady in the pro shop was very friendly and helpful.
We played the front 9 twice as the course was frozen and there was snow. They done an amazing job to get that front nine playable although challenging Golf conditions!
Rupert in the bar again was friendly and helpful.
Will definitely look to book this up again.
Thank you Donnington Valley!
Donnington Christmas Review
The course was very wet in places and too soft underfoot. Greens were very slow and also soft around fringe areas. A good course but maybe better to visit in spring or summer.
Donny Valley Review
Wicked venue. Great condition. A challenging round, requires some good course management, trees line and creep out on every fairway, find yourself in them though it’s not total doom, balls are easily findable and recoverable… and the greens are like marble - even considering how wet/dewy it had been.
All in all some great scenes, great course, challenging but rewarding.
Great day
Course, facilities and people all excellent. Best greens I’ve played this year.
Would highly recommend
Fun course
Good course with undulating fairways , some challenging tee shots and a really tough stretch of holes towards the end. 16 is a bit of a ridiculous hole but get a par there and you know you’ve earned it! Greens were in amazing condition despite 2 days of rain and fairways were good too. Very friendly pro as well and a good terrace for watching people come up the 9/18th holes
Well maintained course with some narrow fairways
Overall the track is nice. After reading the reviews for pace of play I was concerned, but it wasn't a factor when I played as we finished in just over four hours. Tee boxes were good, fairways in great shape, and the greens were rolling very nice. Course has some nice rolling hills, a couple of them being a bit larger, but is completely walkable.
As for the "difficult" holes on the back nine, those are almost comically narrow but not impossible. Course knowledge will really make a difference on how to play those. Otherwise, the staff is friendly. Off course amenities take a hit simply because there is no driving range and there is only one warm up net. When your tee times are space ~10 minutes apart, that doesn't leave much time for each person to warm up. Adding a net or two would help mitigate that issue.
Very playable following another 2 days of solid rain, was wet under foot especially the back 9.The greens are still rolling well with plenty of hidden break, considering local courses were closed. We played as a 2 ball and pace of play was very good. This has been our go to course over the last few weeks following so much wet weather as it never disappoints.
Slow, slow, slow
It took over 2.5 hours to play 9 holes.
The course was so wet, the walkways were a mud bath and too many groups were crammed on. Won’t be returning.
5.5 hours for a round!
Pace of play was so slow. Far too hilly - you get a great work out though! Hard to find your way between holes.
