A fair challenge in peaceful, friendly surroundings

While most par 4s are not overly long for an intermediate and ageing golfer, such as myself,, accuracy is key with many sloping fairway. The course is well designed so each hole has a separate identity and seclusion.

Welcoming halfway house for a bacon sandwich/coffee (also close to 1st tee if you prefer) and friendly staff throughout.

You may need to take/purchase rubber tees for the driving range, but great idea to offer small 25 ball tokens (ideal for warming up before a round)

Will be booking again very soon even though it's over an hour away from where I live

Pace of play

Don't play Tues and weds cos it's comp and seniors day and they take a age to play and won't let you play thru no matter how many holes are free in front of them . When I questioned a 4 ball about this I was told to F--k Off and threatened.

Cracking course

Played the course based on the many positive reviews and can only recommend it. Both the course and set up is top notch. The pro in the shop was great fun and readily explained a bit about the course and its navigation. The course itself was in excellent condition save for a few tee boxes which were a bit bare but were all level. The fairways were immaculate and sat the ball up perfectly and the greens were very good with a bit of stop. The course is massive with many long walks from green to tee, and its a course where you need some length off the tee and you need to be relatively straight. There are loads of elevation changes and different angles so its not a grip it and rip it course. The background to the Park and how the course has been integrated in it only adds to a course which I believe is how golf should be played. Highly recommend giving it a go.

Mixed feelings

There is no doubt this course is top class.

I chose this course to play as one review said 'no winter tees or greens'...17 out of 18 holes were winter tees. Pretty disappointed.

What really got my back up is the location of some of the winter tees which spoilt the round for me. I shortened one hole by 200 yards walking to the winter tee...whats the point?! Some par three tees were completely different parts of the holes as well.

Wouldn't recommend playing when off winter tees as the location of them totally compromises the par of the course.

I imagine it is flawless in the summer though and I will return when not playing from winter tees.

Playing on 29th Oct the ground was wet but still very playable.

Oh, and it is very hilly which I didn't mind but for some people you may want to get a buggy.

Superb Condition, Lovely Layout

It’s my second time playing this course and wow I am so glad we chose to come again. We paid £25 and it proved to be an absolute bargain for the quality of the course and it’s presentation. Before the round we spent 20 minutes in the very useful chipping area adjacent to the driving range, We also indulged in a bacon and sausage sandwich and coffee from the halfway house close to the first tee. The course condition was fantastic and the layout would challenge most golfers. The fairways were cut in cross hatch fashion and looked stunning from the tees, the greens were in great condition too even though we repaired at least 5 divots every hole which weren’t ours. The views on this course across the lake make it a really impressive course and the mixture of challenges to reach greens keeps you thinking. Make use of course maps on the tees and app maps as hazards lurk in hidden spots. Pace of play was fine and a group of 3 in buggies let our four ball through as they were a bit all over the place, so we appreciated being let through.

Excellent condition but hilly

Great course, well maintained and challenging.

The majority of the greens and the fairways are 1st class.

Between the 9th and 10th hole, there is a convenient shop for refreshments, (please note only takes cash or membership card. No cards-visa/contactless etc).

Some of the par 3's are breathtaking! absolutely amazing. Be aware this is a hilly course and some of the tees are not that close to the previous greens. Quite physically demanding.

Overall a brilliant course and a must if you are in the area.
