Good value

The course was a little wet, understandably. However the greens we’re in good condition and for £21 the round was good value for money

Awful condition

Second time playing at wokefield and the course was in an awful state. Bunkers waterlogged, tee boxes a mess, greens unplayable. So sad to see and won’t be returning any time soon:

Overpriced and pace of play extremely slow

Our tee time was double booked and there was a short time between the two tee times ahead of us and the one behind. This lead to a 5 hour round

The staff member in the pro shop said there had been a small amount of work to the course that would cause minimal disruption to our round. The greens had major works done recently, which we understand has to occur, however we were told differently. Putting on the greens was almost impossible and resulted to us picking up once we were on the greens by the end

A fair price for this round would’ve been £10-12 and we would definitely not recommend this course to friends.

Never coming back

Having played here multiple times as its my local course, I have finally given up with this place. The reason? Greedy management and slow, slow, sloooow rounds.

I played a few months back and gave up after 6 holes due to members and a society teeing off as and when they please. I was given a voucher for a round as compensation. Fair enough. On the use of that voucher it took 4.5 hrs to get round on a Friday night twilight round.

Today I returned for the 1st time since then and gave up on the 8th.

Until the management put larger gaps between tee times, and actually have a warden patrol so you don't get 6 balls going round (I've seen this nearly every round I've played) and teach some members and guests some actual etiquette I won't be back. Bunkers never raked and the greens are absolutely riddled with unrepaired / poorly repaired pitch marks.

The course itself is decent, tee boxes an greens especially need some work. But there is not much to be positive about unfortunately.

Could be a great place to play...COULD!

Played here twice now after 6 attempts. Played once and it was on a day with heavy rainfall so couldn't judge. Next 4 times I paid money and had to get a refund as they didn't tell me the course was closed until I arrived. I finally got another chance to play today as it was sunny and dry so I knew the chances of it being closed were slim. Unfortunately I had to give up after the 7th hole as there was too many drunk people speeding around on buggys not really playing golf. Once I got past them I got stuck behind a 4 ball which is absolutely fine whilst playing by myself. Once I completely caught up with them I asked, "may I play through?" To which the reply was "how about we knock you out". Im not one for conflict so I skipped onto the next hole infront of them. I then decided to give up a hole later as they decided to follow me and try and put me off on my shots and throw their beer bottles at me.

Such a shame as the course is beautifully laid out. I wanted to become a member if I enjoyed myself but I wont be joining...

This might be an unfortunate one off but I have have played a total of 24 holes over 6 attempts of booking a round.

Always judge for yourself but I hope this review helps.

Reasonable condition but pace of play was poor.

The course was in reasonable condition with a few greens that were patchy but was ok for the price of £25. However, I would not have liked to have paid more than that. When we arrived the pro shop seemed to be disorganised as they had double booked our tee time with another group. I got the impression it was a bit of a free for all when we arrived on the first tee as they were trying to get as many people on the course as possible. In turn this made the round very slow and there were no marshals supervising the pace of play.

Good value for the money

Really nice course.front and back 9 are quite different. The only downside were the greens. They need some attention as they were full of pitch marks so the ball was bouncing along the green.

Wokefield

Lovely course, but due to large volume of golfers, every green had lots and lots of divots and when you putt the ball it bounces all over the place and doesn't roll true. Course is really good as layout is fantastic but greens are very poor. Far too busy which is destroying the course

So slow

That after 4 holes my partner had had enough and walked off, after waiting 10 - 15 minutes to play at 3 of the 4 holes, ridiculous that t times are so close together and 1 balls are interspersed with 3 balls, paid £47 for twilight fees, a complete waste of money. Was also hearing in pro shop staff telling customers that they could tee off from 10th if they liked, even though their t time was scheduled for 1st. Poorly run and greedy of club, spoiled this game for both of us!

Okay

Wokefield is my local course and is very nice to play. However, the rough is not the best and could really do with some work. The greens However are terrible, no one appears to be repairing their pitch marks and they run incredibly slow. There was also too many people playing and I felt very rushed. Also my friend and I were paired with another 2 players, which isn't a problem but we were not told about this on the booking. It is a very nice course but they need to employ more green keepers and reduce the amount of people aloud to play if they want to have a more enjoyable experience. Some of the staff in the pro shop are rude and blunt which needs to addressed.

Just OK.

The course was in OK condition, obviously gets a lot of traffic which means the greens are not great. It’s fine but they’re bobbly and need rolling. The main issue was that there were 2 temporary greens. This would have been fine had I have known but there were no notices or signs and no one told us when booking or when checking in and collecting our cards. This basically ruined the round. We were playing in a friendly competition and the 16th and 18th were on temps so there was no way to properly play out. I definitely think we should have been warned and we certainly shouldn’t have had to pay the normal price. Massively disappointing. Ruined the golf.

Don’t waste your time and money

Played here 11th June 2021. Went to practice putting green before play. Thought it must have been left to its own devices due to lockdown. I was wrong, greens on the course no better. Worse than any public course I have played and I have played some poor ones. Worst thing is I went into the pro shop after to let them know I was unhappy and they didn’t acknowledge there was a problem. £33, there should be a warning on their website. My advice - Don’t waste your time and money
