Horrendous

Dreadful course, other players shamelessly stealing balls without any care for who it may belong to. Old miserable blokes complaining we are playing off the white tees when the yellows were nothing short of disgraceful. Just a shambles of a course with painfully slow players. Avoid at all costs, better playing in your local park.

Good value for money. Great place to start playing.

Decent course to start playing on. Great for kids who have shown an interest in the sport. This is where I began playing so decided to revisit for nostalgia’s sake. Just good fun. Course is in decent condition to say we are coming out of a wet winter and into a very dry and warm spring. Great value for money at nearly 50p per hole you can’t grumble. Club house prices are very reasonable.

Brilliant course for new golfers

First learnt to play golf at a range nearby, went for my first round here in summer and have been many times since. A great course for any ability, friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere and dress code. Pretty good condition considering the recent weather as well. Brilliant all round.

Not a good game!

I have played Hillies regularly for around 35/40 years. It's normally a quick and easy 9 holes with a good chance for a bit of practice. The price isn't aa well proced as it used to be but it's normally accessible.

The issue was with it being over played on the day. As we went down the 1st there was a group of 8 teeing off on the 9th tee - shouting and acting about. Obviously these guys were with the groups behind aa thet all waited about shouting. The course really needed some tee positions moving, the fairways trimming and the greens needed some care.

The staff don't seem to care what happens after you book in and really, why would they.

It holds a place in my heart after playing there as a kid so I have to recommend it - I just wish it was better looked after and policed a little!

Good introduction to golf course

It's a good introduction to golf course. Ideal if you are just starting to play golf, which my son is, so ideal for that. Cost for the round is good value. On the course, beware, as shouts of 'fore' are pretty much non existent, as such, we were nearly hit by errant shots on a couple of occasions!

The layout is good. The greens were good, but a little bit woolly and needed a cut. The tee boxes are where they need to do a bit of maintenance, as they were poor – some worse than others.

Overall, can't really fault it for the money.

A pleasant surprise!

A surprising little 9 hole hidden away in Wombwell. Definitely deserves the name as a poor shot on the second means getting your climbing gear on and anything other than on the green on the third rolls down the hill into the right. Each hole has its unique features to make it challenging but they’re all short enough that it doesn’t ruin the scorecard. As a relative beginner I really enjoyed it and will be back with some pals before the winter months!

Excellent course!

We’d never played a round before and this was where we decided to play our first. It was a really good course everyone there was happy to let us past or wait when we were struggling a bit more than them. Great course!

The course is ok for a beginner. It’s not much of a challenge if you’re an experienced golfer though. Don’t like that people wearing jeans are allowed to play.

I've played here loads, it's easy to get, cheap enough and not too bad. It needs more work but it's never changed to be fair.
