Mearns Castle Golf Academy

Slow paced relaxed course for players newer to the game. Seems a lot less strict and user friendly. Course itself is a great lay out. Really enjoyable

Course was in good condition and the Greens were in great nick. It was busy but we still got round in just over an hour and a half.

Arrived 25 minutes before my tee time to be told u had to wait until 2 other golfers turned up as golfNow bookings not allowed to go round on their own. Was than paired with 2 nice gentlemen who were beginners, to which I had no problem with and we even let 2 pairs okay through as I was aware that as they were beginners, we were going to be slower than average. After 5 holes staff came over in a buggy and said I know you guys are new to golf but let those members play through so they were not waiting too long, refering to 2 pairs who were waiting at the previous tee and had not even tee'd off yet. We then let another 2 pairs through before finishing. Beginner or not, that was a tad condescending of staff given we were following course etiquette already and I'm not really a beginner but was paired with them.

To pair that off there was a group of kids with no supervising adults jumping from tee to tee taking shots that were flying into other fairways but the buggy wasn't going anywhere near them, guess they must have been members so could do what they like.

I'd rather go to Eastwood Twelve, Golf It, Playsport Golf, Rouken Glen or even the council course at Knightswood, all of which offer a much more enjoyable experience

Had a great day at the course, helped by the sunny warm weather.

Grass condition was pretty good all round and the greens were mostly quite fast. Pin positions were tricky on some greens and the sand was very well kept.

Front desk staff was very nice and approachable.

So the course, I have played before and enjoy the layout, wanted to bring some friends that are newer golfers but we are all interested in finding a local membership with this course near the top of the list. Started 5.30am before it got too hot. course was in perfect playing conditions, best I have seen it. Stopped between 9th-10th to get refreshments and got informed a competition was on so we were refused to complete our round because we would get in the way.

Very disappointing and definitely put me off wanting to get a membership here now, staff member almost mocked us for the speed we played at not considering the possibility that we could have been new.

The staff member totally ruined the experience, but kudos to the greenkeeping team the course was magnificent for the 9 we got to play.

I played this course maybe 3 years ago and i couldn’t really remember anything except it was a bog. Took my 10 year old up with me because 18 holes is too long for him and we have been playing different 9 hole course each week. This place is still a bog even after a dry week it was still very wet and muddy in areas. Layout is ok I suppose but all very average holes and the greens are the worst I’ve seen in a long time. I know this time of year most courses have disease on them and even my course does but this was really bad. Feel sorry for people who are members and need to play this course regularly.

Was a decent little course . It was off mats which is fine . Winter greens were on though . It didn’t state this when I booked though . Almost felt like they weren’t telling people just to get money . Disappointed… having played the course in better weather it’s a decent little course

Green were really sandy. Bits of course very wet although kinda understandable given the level of rain.

Played this for the first time and have to admit I was better than I expected…course in great condition…definitely be back

A bit congested to begin with. Ended up playing with a member to avoid slowing anyone behind us which turned out to be a laugh. Course was in a great condition. Fairways were forgiving. Friendly staff and great facilities.
