Alhambra Municipal Golf Course
About
Alhambra Golf Course has a player-friendly design that is ideal for beginners but also great for more experienced players who are looking for a quick but fun round. The layout is a shorter par-71 design at 5,478 yards. It may not be long but it offers plenty of other challenges. There is plenty of variety between the two vastly different nines. The front nine holes are fairly flat, parkland holes with generous fairways lined with trees. The beginning holes provide a good warm-up for Alhambra Golf Course's more difficult back nine where you'll have to use every club in your bag. The back sprawls across rolling terrain, incorporating elevation changes ranging from subtle to dramatic. There are also more strategically placed bunkers on the back nine. Alhambra's 16th is the signature hole. This tricky par 5 begins with an intimidating tee shot over water in order to reach the fairway.

Hole 6 green. So many trees that line the fairways at this course. Photo submitted by u018507495 on 06/24/2025

Golfer Reviews
Good course for a quick round
The grounds were being aerated so that affected our play but that means by next week the fairways and greens should be in great condition. Overall, a good course but some things could be improved, ie water in ball washers. Good coffee shop for a golf course.
rest of course in great shape, despite current tee box work
Love playing at this course. Almost always in great shape despite heat waves and hot weather with lack of rain.
Seems course was watered heavily, which is great, to keep it in shape. Tee box areas are all roped off and tee spots moved up on most holes by 50 to hundred yards while they tend to the tee box areas.
Otherwise, everything is great. Bunkers were in great shape, except a couple on the back nine, which had rocks in the sand for some reason, so had to move them away to take the shot. I guess the moral of the story is "don't hit it into the sand trap!"
Good course, well managed
I played when aeration was going on and that affected my play but all that means is that the next round will be perfect. Well managed, well maintained
Great value
I always enjoy playing this course. Its one of the best values around. It’s always in solid condition for any course under $50.
Amenities
It would be great to enjoy the grille for breakfast again.
Everything else is great.
pace
just wonder why the course management let 5 players in a flight, its slow down the pace and those 5 are not good at all plus they are also very slow.
it took me 5 hrs 10 mins to finish the 9 holes, what a long day !
A small yet entertaining layout
For a shorter length course , it still challenges you to place accurate shots. This layout is not about how far you can drive but how well you can manage the course. For good players you may not need your driver at all and can just work with your 3wood. It’s a compact course so you better watch out for errant shots from other fairways. It was a relaxing round and the pace was decent. Will visit again when I’m in the area.
Great value.
Overall great walkable course. Pace of play needs serious attention from the staff.
It’s a short course, they need to have the back/black tees set up
Pace of play approached 5 hours as almost every group was attempting (and failing) to drive the green on most holes. This is what happens on an already short course when the back/black tees are not set up and everyone is playing the course from the blues.
We waited on every shot. Waiting on a tee box for a green to clear and then watching dude after dude attempting to drive 260 yard par 4’s (there was a par 4 that played 215 as well) gets old real fast when they’re looking for their ball in the wrong fairway for 10 minutes.
The course is well maintained and serves a purpose. Although tight in places (a couple holes demand draws off the tee) the course is accommodating for a newer golfer while also being a solid option for a more seasoned golfer who wants to get some iron practice in. Problem is, most golfers fall somewhere in between and think they can stick a green from 270 with their driver because they hit it far a couple times at the range.
Seems like common sense, but the option to play from the tips is necessary for a decent pace of play at this course.
Greens terribly slow at Alhambra
Like the place and the people, but the greens were very slow, as was the pace
What a time
The ONLY problem that I have with this course is that it's not in Long Beach!!!
The Pro shop staff has always been outstanding. The course is always in fantastic shape and well- maintained.
The restaurant is great and the staff is friendly and attentive. ( Tuna sandwiches are great)
A great Labor Day
We had a really good time. A couple things that might have made it better……. A bev cart would have been awesome and a larger menu for lunch after the round. It was a holiday. The course was full and it was over 100 degrees. We did enjoy our hot dogs and cocktails.
Thank you
