Alhambra Municipal Golf Course
About
Alhambra Golf Course has a player-friendly design that is ideal for beginners but also great for more experienced players who are looking for a quick but fun round. The layout is a shorter par-71 design at 5,478 yards. It may not be long but it offers plenty of other challenges. There is plenty of variety between the two vastly different nines. The front nine holes are fairly flat, parkland holes with generous fairways lined with trees. The beginning holes provide a good warm-up for Alhambra Golf Course's more difficult back nine where you'll have to use every club in your bag. The back sprawls across rolling terrain, incorporating elevation changes ranging from subtle to dramatic. There are also more strategically placed bunkers on the back nine. Alhambra's 16th is the signature hole. This tricky par 5 begins with an intimidating tee shot over water in order to reach the fairway.

Hole 6 green. So many trees that line the fairways at this course. Photo submitted by u018507495 on 06/24/2025

Golfer Reviews
Fun short course
Alhambra golf course is a fun, short course that requires good course management. Sometimes it is best to leave the driver in the bag and hit an iron off the tee. For mid-June, the fairways were in good shape but did have a few brown spots. The greens were in very good shape but were a bit slower than the courses that I usually play. This is not a negative, and I think the course is trying to let the grass grow a little longer as the summer heat will eventually take its toll. Alhambra is a great course for beginners.
Great Time!
I’m not a local but saw this course and thought I’d give it a try. I’m new to golf and rarely play on Saturday as the costs are so high and the pace so slow- when you’re new ( most of you might not rem :) it’s hard to sit around and wait since you get into your head too much. I had a great time ! The two I was paired with were awesome and very accommodating. We ended up about the same skill level. Pro shop and Restaurant Staff was really nice and course condition was very good for a municipal course. Pace was good, people kept moving. People in front of us picked up if too many strokes as did we. Challenging course but note it’s short. Easier front nine than back. My only observation as a newbie ( have been playing 8 months, shot my best round ever!) was how few players repair their ball marks. ???
