Alhambra Municipal Golf Course
About
Alhambra Golf Course has a player-friendly design that is ideal for beginners but also great for more experienced players who are looking for a quick but fun round. The layout is a shorter par-71 design at 5,478 yards. It may not be long but it offers plenty of other challenges. There is plenty of variety between the two vastly different nines. The front nine holes are fairly flat, parkland holes with generous fairways lined with trees. The beginning holes provide a good warm-up for Alhambra Golf Course's more difficult back nine where you'll have to use every club in your bag. The back sprawls across rolling terrain, incorporating elevation changes ranging from subtle to dramatic. There are also more strategically placed bunkers on the back nine. Alhambra's 16th is the signature hole. This tricky par 5 begins with an intimidating tee shot over water in order to reach the fairway.

Hole 6 green. So many trees that line the fairways at this course. Photo submitted by u018507495 on 06/24/2025

Get out here!!
Wonderfully kept course. Not long but some tricky holes where mistakes can be easily made. Always a great walk on well kept greens!!

Well worth the time and $$
Hadn’t played this course in several years and came back for the annual Thanksgiving weekend round of golf with the buddies. I read the reviews and people swore by the greens and knocked the Tee boxes being shorter due to reseeding. There was no issue with tee boxes other than the grass being a little tall due to the reseeding, but we’ll maintained and in right distance location when we went. The greens were amazing with various speeds depending n the sun hitting them, and as the day went on.. the one thing I did see was peoples lack of efforts in giving the ball marks. When you have nice greens folks should make that effort but here not so much, or not as much as they should have. The fairways were nice, and given that this is a shorter course where lots of lay up shots come into play, that helps for sure.. Sand traps were decent (only had to test once thank god) and overall a really enjoyable round of golf. I would definitely recommend for multiple levels of players to work on many aspects of the game. Tends to be a bit slower round (4.5 hours) since there can be a lot more people walking due to its length but still fun over all.

Too short!
Almost every par 4 courses were too short.
One of them is par 4 hole which was 180 yards long.

Pretty decent course
Enough elevation change to be interesting, decent layout good views. Fairways had tight lies, decent greens, and the back tee boxes were under repair. Overall would play this course again for sure.
Tee boxes moves
All great but all the tee boxes were move a couple yard forward .

What?
Great little course, good shape, but very short, which was fine and fun, a few drivable holes, but when we finished just before 5pm we wanted to celebrate with a few beers--one of our players, a good friend, broke 80 for the first time. But we were told the restaurant was closed. What? They closed at 4:30pm. That was ridiculous for a golf course and for a group that teed off at noon! I hope they have changed that policy.

What the heck happened to your teeboxes?
Stay clear until the reseeding has been completed. I'm OFFENDED by having to put a tee peg in a muddy and mushy plop way forward of the junior tees on most holes. There needs to be a bigger discount when the course is set up this poorly. I will not return, nor recommend to anyone until I hear from the superintendent. Tell me you are sorry. You should be.
Tight fairways, fun to be had.
Finished a mid-day round in under 4 hours! The course is tight, short, and fun. Definitely dot to flex the mid-iron game. Greens are in good shape, and the bunkers aren’t half bad (the rakes are trash). Front 9 is forgiving and scoring opportunities galore, the back 9 plays around a set of hills, and mounding that makes for some fun target golf. Lots of risk reward shots.
Note: the tee boxes are in the process of over seeding, so all the boxes are currently in weird muddy patches off the main boxes or on the beginning of the fairway. This was the only downside. Lots of par fours ended up being 200 - 230 yard shots onto the green.
course staff, please consider placing some mats instead of forcing players to hit off mud, it would help a ton.
Great place to bring friends of all skill levels, I’ll be back once the overseeing is completed.
Great course except when they are working on tee grounds
I usually enjoy playing at this course for the course layout and price. Also, this course is easy to walk so I normally would consider playing here any given time. BUT except when they are working on the teeing ground.
I played last Saturday and tee were in the front in most of holes. Some holes had at least 100 yards short due to the tee being put on or about junior's tee.
I remember last year, when I first visited this course was like this, so I will come back to play back in February once the teeing grounds are fixed.
