The Lunar Landscape Photo submitted by dhume419 on 02/27/2017
Great layout and unique landscape. Views are Wonderful, too bad more houses will greatly detract from the beauty.
Great course
The whole course is in great condition from tea to green. Living only 15 minutes away there’s no reason to travel east. Both Verrado courses are excellent
Too expensive for what you get
Played Saturday 06/18, paid $60 for the round to find out the greens were not even close to recovered from being punched. Tee to green the course is in solid condition, staff was welcoming at check in. Course marshal was flippant and seemed to be annoyed that our group was taking the time to look for a ball in the desert. Round took 5 hours playing on top of the group ahead and with a twosome playing polo behind us.
No warning of the green condition beforehand and $60 in the Phoenix area in June is too much by double to pay for this course with the greens in this condition.
Saw the bev cart exactly once during the 5 hour round.
Layout is great, plenty of options off the tee and the greens are framed well by the landscape. I'd love to see this course in great shape in the early fall but there are too many options in the Phoenix area to recommend this track.
Very nice layout
Verrado Victory course is beautiful and challenging for us higher handicappers. Other than the aerated greens the course is in excellent condition. Nicely manicured fairways and fluffy white sand bunkers.
Too bad the restaurant (The Vic) was closed due to COVID-19, it’s one of our favorite spots.
Hole 14 brings a smile
Course was challenging and in good shape for summer conditions in Arizona. Staff was very helpful. The whole experience was only highlighted by my first hole in one on the 286 yard par four. What’s the old adage, even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every now and then.
Course is nice. Staff not so much
I've played this course many times and it's one of my favorites in the West Valley. Lately they've been demanding that we pair up in carts, even though we requested separate carts for social distancing. Although the general manager had assured me they would accommodate if possible, they got around it the first time by saying it was too busy and there weren't enough carts. This time they said we had to pay for a separate cart, even though we only saw two singles the whole round. Other than that, the round and the course were great.
Little pricey for this time of year.
I played with some buddies who live in Verrado, so it was much more of a drive for me then them. Cost seemed a little high in comparison to the rest of the courses in the valley. Course was in good condition and sand in traps had actually sand. There were a couple puddles, but we had an early tee time and shows they are watering the grass.
Great place
Beautiful and challenging course. The staff friendliness was excellent and looked after your every need. The day was only highlighted by my first ever hole in one on the par four 14th hole.
Underwhelming for 17 Holes
Honestly, am a little perplexed with the ratings for this course. It's pretty unremarkable for 17 holes, mainly back and forth golf with few features. I went through the course waiting for it get tougher or more interesting, but never happened until 18. The one somewhat redeeming factor is the dramatic finishing 18th hole, where a birdie is well within reach. Found the greens to be annoyingly slow, and sometimes seemed like I was putting on 120 grit sandpaper. All in all not bad, but not the track I would tell my friends to rush out to play anytime soon.
A bit underwhelming
Had heard some good things about the Victory course, so decided to make the drive up to see for myself. The course design is pretty plain. Holes mainly straight and back and forth with few hazards or real doglegs to contend with. Fortunately the 18th is one of the more dramatic closing holes you will play, so there is some redemption there. You just have to wait 17 holes to figure out why you booked this track. The course was in fairly good shape overall, although the greens were very slow and sounded sometimes like I was putting on 80 grit sandpaper. The value was average overall. The staff was extremely friendly and the Cliff House was a great stop after the round for lunch. All in all not a bad track, but would not rush out to play again anytime soon.
Packed
The course was absolutely packed full. Pace was about 4 1/2 hours. No rangers. The course for summer time is in good shape. A few burnt areas but nothing terrible. The greens were in good shape. Sometimes a bit tough to read, but in decent condition. It was very hot and a bit windy all day. Overall, it was a good day.
2 must play!
Love the course but all of a sudden you are forcing people to purchase minimum 2 players on golfnow. You are screwing the golfer that want to go by himself! Why?
1 and done
The course itself was fun but challenging. The views were great and the course has a nice layout to it. However they overbooked the course and the pace of play was absolutely terrible. We waited about 7-10 minutes at every tee box. There wasn’t anyone pushing the pace of play but as soon as it hit 6:55 they were pushing us off the course. We had over 4 hours to finish our 18 and we were unable to do so. They kick you off the course at 7 because the sprinklers come on, which is a huge flaw in managements decision because there’s still a decent amount of sunlight and plenty of golf to be played. From my experience I won’t be returning anytime soon.
Better than I Thought!
The course was in great shape the practice putting green was a lot faster then the actual greens.. I can’t wait to play it again to get comfortable with the course. Nice course!!!
