Golfer Reviews
Great Course
Had a play date with a friend today, 6:38 in the morning T-time. Price was off peak so it was about $45.00. This includes golf cart and range balls. Pace is about 4-1/2 hours for 18 holes. We had a very fun time. We played off the silver, which is about 6500 yards. And it was challenging but not demanding enough to frustrate you. Good idea to stay on the fairways, since there are a lot of desert and rocky terrain. I like how they included some of the rocks and boulders as part of the course. Front nine seemed to be harder, and straighter with no homes. Back nine had homes with multi tier level greens and fairways. Course is in great shape as of today, and very fun to play
Fantastic
First time playing the course and the wait was well worth it. Fun golf course with wide fairways, well protected greens. The greens can be very tricky at times with some slopes. The views from some holes are absolutely wonderful. Great practice facility to warm up before the round. No complaints at all, will definitely return.
Georgous Views and Unique Layout
I’ve been waiting to play Victory for a while now and it was definitely worth the wait! From the moment you drive into the facility you realize that this is a very unique course.
It is by far the most unique layout I have played in the valley and that’s comparing it to courses like Troon North, Quintero, We Ko Pa, etc. It’s definitely going into my top 5.
Not only is it unique because of all the rock outcroppings.........but the design is both challenging and playable with conditions that were near perfect. Victory was actually in better shape than Founders which I played a few days earlier. A lot of the big resort courses like to overwater like crazy this time of year which makes them almost unplayable in most spots in the Fairway......but not here! They got it dialed......
Both Verrado courses are by far the best value in the valley that I have found. You are not going to get any better when it comes to exceptional playing conditions and awesome course design for the price.
The only negative that I have for Victory is with a few holes on the closing nine. There was so much room on some of the holes to put greenside bunker’s which would have made the design more challenging and more importantly more appealing to the eye from a design perspective. I have no idea why Tom Lehman decided not to put bunkers on a lot of the holes on the back nine?? It would’ve bumped the slope up about 5 to 8 points and would’ve made the course one of the real challenges in the valley.
Nit picking aside.......Victory is a course that I’m playing every time I’m in town.
Favorite course
4 or 5th time that I've played Verrado Victory - its my top 3 in the valley - its a blast to play!
One of My Favorite Coursed
I have reviewed this course previously. It remains one of my favorite courses in the Valley. The conditions of fairways and greens are always excellent despite the time of year, the layout of the course is unique, the the look of the course is visually unique, and the practice area is first rate. If there is a complaint it would only be the regular southwesterly wind that blows making holes 6 through 9 extra challenging.
Great new course in the Phoenix area.
Today was my first time playing The Victory Course. It can be a difficult course to play for the first time. Fortunately, I was paired with someone who was familiar with the course and could give me advice on each hole. Great tees and fairways. The greens were a little on the slow side. This is a course where you have to keep the ball in the fairways. It was a fun course to play. We completed 18 holes in just under 4 hours.
transitioning well
The greens are transitioning well after the aerification a few weeks ago. They are nearly healed up. It didn't affect my putting so aside from the color changes I hardly noticed. I did noticed that the course was a little soft in places. I think this is from all the monsoon rain we have been getting. You'll need to club up for some approach shots as the ball pretty much stops where it lands around the fringe. There was a big outing that went off in the morning in front of me. My tee time was far enough behind that it didn't affect me much. I still finished in about 4 hours.
Bad greens
We were not Informed when booking that the greens had been punched recently. We realize it needs to be done been would have been nice to know it had been done. Would not have played today.
Quite the different animal !
Well I was knocked over how a totally different look this course has compared it's Sister -the Founders. Why another reviewer said to "pass this one by" I won't get, maybe that the 14th is "Wacky" at least, overall I dig it !
Real elevation changes make negotiating this course tough, but everything is right in front of U for the most part(that 14th tee shot ain't). Smooth greens but could have been a bit faster &the tees and fairways were in fine shape. Bunkering is solid also & not real brutal through the greens complexes or off the tees, seems roomy actually. Really enjoyed this course, a Bummer they punched the greens 5days later BUT I'll be back !
Despite the Heat , Course was a Hit
I introduced the course to my nephew and my regular golfing buddy for the first time, and they both were amazed at the course. Great new course, with some creative layouts, and always great course conditions.
Greens
Greens Looks great holds most shots very very slow ruins all the fun for this great lay out.
First time
For the price this was an excellent deal. Practice facilities were very good. The greens according to the two others inplayed with were slow, which suited me fine. I’d recommend this course to anyone and everyone.
Course in excellent shape
Greens rolled nice. Beverage cart came by 4 times during our 4 hr round. Spacious fairways. Hole 18 Par 5 is one of my favorites in the valley. Will be back in October when the weather cools down.
Great layout
This is one course you need to know the yardage, greens were slower than normal for this time of year very good lay out
Great Conditions
This course is in great shape from tee to green. Truly amazed of the condition considering the temperatures we've had. Will definitely play here again soon. Greens putt a little slower than most but are in incredible shape.
