Good course fun to play.
Pretty good greens were punched so putting was silly. Jane the pro shop clerk absolute witch.
Hidden Gem
This was a hidden gem I didn’t know about before yesterday. First off this is a 36 hole track and the South course is better than the North based on feedback from a local I was paired with.
I played the south course. The warm up area is hit off mats only and it had top tracer tech. Based on my tee time with GolfNow and small bucket was included. It was truly small maybe 30 balls. Personally I hate hitting off the mats because of the wear and tear and not getting a true turf interaction. The top tracer was nice but I don’t know how accurate it actually was.
The warm up putting green was huge and had all kind of holes, uphill, down, and breaking. I also found the conditions and speed to be similar to the actual greens, which were fantastic for all 18 holes.
I had a 1106 tee time but the front nice was congested and backed up, so the Marshall started us on the back and jammed us in between those making the turn. If I was the group behind us I would be seriously angry because they had to wait on every hole for their back nine. I also did not like it because I felt very rushed to ensure we held pace with the group ahead of us which was tough because my playing partners were beginners. It was not fair to them to feel rushed either because everyone has to learn sometime.
The conditions of the course were phenomenal. Bunkers were impeccable, greens were smoking fast and true, fairways were fantastic. The back nice which would normally be the front were much better because we did not have anyone breathing down our necks.
My only other negative was the water cans were completely empty and on a smoking hot and humid day was not safe. I mentioned it to the beverage cart but never saw anyone refilling them.
No Marshalls to keep pace of play besides on starting point. On one hole I saw eight guys playing together too. This could have been the reason for the extreme backup on the front. A Marshall would have shut that down.
Great course
We love Bayou Oaks South. The course is pretty well maintained, though sometimes they struggle to keep the greens “green”, and the rough can be ROUGH. But overall, it’s well worth the visit - not overly difficult or overly easy, and the pace of play is usually pretty smooth. Saw a coyote on the course once, but it wasn’t too interested in us, and hey, we’re basically in the swamp and in their territory.
Course in great shape, greens rolling true and everything looks great for the amount of play the course gets. Good time to play
Fun course
This course is always fun to play, even for a hacker like me. Greens are always pure and true. Fairways are perfect. Staff is good and attentive. And I was paired with a couple of nice guys so overall it was a good day.
Awesome course
The layout is very forgiving for beginner and intermediate players, but it has long holes for advanced players. The course is very well maintained.
Greens need help
$100 is usually a fair rate to pay for this course but if this is how the greens are, I will go elsewhere.
Buyer beware…greens are infested with poa
Greens are bumpy due to poa infestation. Not worth playing.
Very solid course when discounted price.
Very scorable track. Greens are in very good shape if a little slow. This is a course I enjoy playing when the price is right. Full price is not a good deal.
Payment
Hello,
I paid for this round on Wednesday and when checking in on Friday, the course charged me again. I didn’t realize until later that day due to not typically using this app when playing this course and also being excited to play. I will need to reach out to the course for reimbursement. Thanks
Great Course - Missing Mark on Value
Course is beautiful, staff is friendly, it’s an experience worth having. The issue for me was the value. It is not $100 better than the North Course, amenities such as basics like towels and coolers in the carts are lacking, and the experience for a non resident does not live up to the price. Glad I played, but would go elsewhere in future for better value (Audubon, Stonebridge, North Course, Joseph Bartholemew).
Little over priced
This is not a $120 course IMO. It’s a decent course. But I was expecting a lot more for that amount of money.
A Fantastic Experience
Played English Turn, Stonebridge, and here during Super Bowl week in Nola. English Turn was very good layout and conditioning was pretty good. Showing a little wear.
Stonebridge was a complete dog track that should be embarrassed for charging greens fees.
Bayou Oaks at City Park was by far the best of the bunch. A great driving golf course that played sneaky long with a steady one club wind. Greens were smooth and firm.
We played in 4 hours 20 minutes at 9 AM on a Sunday.
Locker room had showers which was a huge benefit for our out of town traveling squad. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating.
This will be our go-to course to play in Nola (although we haven’t tried TPC)
