El Prado Golf Courses - Butterfield Stage

About
El Prado Golf Course boasts two different 18-hole courses: Butterfield Stage and Chino Creek. Early in California's statehood, stagecoaches would make the 2,700 mile trek from St. Louis to San Francisco. The property used to be a stop on this trail, which is where the Butterfield Stage Course gets its name. It's the shorter of the two courses at 6,568 yards from the back tees. The course is flatter and more forgiving than Chino Creek, but it still has a fair amount of challenges that will test your skills. The layout has generous fairways, but watch out for the strategically placed bunkers lurking along the large, gently undulating greens. Water hazards come into play on several holes as well. The wide open nature of the course can be forgiving but at the same time it will put your round at the mercy of the prevailing winds.

Challenge and reward
Course length and layout can be a challenge, while providing the opportunity to recover from most situations. Tees, fairways and greens are always in nice condition. Reasonably priced, and staff and other golfers are friendly - adding to the overall golf enjoyment.
Average at best
This course isn’t in good condition at the moment whatsoever. A lot of the course is dirt and crabgrass. There really isn’t a difference between a lot of the fairways and the rough. A lot of the fairways are covered with crabgrass. The course amenities are fine and the cost wasn’t a lot but I just wouldn’t recommend it over many other course in the area. I would say it’s in the poorest condition out of 10 courses or so that I’ve played recently in socal over the past few months.

Butterfield
Good and fun layout for a local public course. Although the fairways had numerous bare spots, however the greens were in great shape as usual. Green side bunkers, well, you could probably use a putter to get out.
Misunderstood
I mistook Elphado and Eldorado for reservations.It's my mistake, but the letters are so similar that I'm confused.I couldn't go.

Prices Have Really Gone up!
The Chino Creek side had punched the greens so this course had waiting at every hole. We waited 10-15 minutes between shots. After playing the back side in 3 hours , then played the whole back again
and it wasn't so busy.
Question, what has changed about these courses that twilight after 2 on weekend is now $31?

Quick pace of play around course. 3 hours 18 holes!
Good course for the hot deal price only
Played a 9:50 tee time. Weather was blazing hot around 97-102 degrees. Plenty of shade to take shelter under, which was nice.
Greens rolled slow but felt okay. Some green conditions were really rough; I’m talking bare patches and simple dirt on some holes. Bunkers had almost no sand, was more akin to hitting off dirt. Fairways were mostly okay, no concerning spots. Only teeboxes were well maintained.
Some holes smelled awful, like a mixture of horse excrement and manure. Possibly from the stagnant water on some holes. Those were rough to stomach.
I would not play here for more than $17 which was the hot deal price.

Great price and we got out early. Greens were slow but we just had to adjust. I would play this course again.

A good time on Chino Creek
The weather was hot, until the afternoon breeze helped evaporate and cool the body. It is surprising how good the fare ways are considering how hot and dry it has been these last three weeks.....Keep up the good maintenance. Now, if we can just get duffers to fix their divots.

Course is starting to suffer from extreme heat
