TERRIBLY managed, okay course
The staff seems totally out of it. They’re not very friendly at all. I had an early tee time and got to the course about 45 minutes early. They told us the driving range is closed and weren’t interested in speaking about why. There was no starter in the morning. There was nobody to help give you a golf cart so we just tried to find the cleanest one we could.
We had another tee time scheduled for Sunday ( 1/12) and they told me Friday around noon that they’ve cancelled my tee time due to weather. It’s not supposed to rain, so I called and asked and she said they’re covering the greens. I have no idea why they’d wait until 36 hours before my tee time to tell me this. I could’ve rescheduled to play somewhere else.
The best part about this course is it’s one of the cheapest in Atlanta. And that’s very clear when you arrive at the course. It’s a wide open and very easy course to play, so it’s great for beginners who are okay with playing dirt cheap golf and accepting last minute, totally avoidable cancellations.
I enjoy playing the course. If it was better managed by a competent team, it could have a lot of potential and would even justify raising the price. It’s staffed by uneducated people who seem spaced out, confused, and overwhelmingly unfriendly.
Unpleasant staff and disorganized.
Regardless of industry, when you work in a customer facing role, being polite is the absolute minimum. The young woman working at the desk couldn’t be bothered to greet us when we said good morning. Advised us of the frost delay, which we were fine with, but the tone and disposition of the employee was less than pleasant. She became marginally more polite once she started calling groups but still wasn’t pleasant overall. Once play was finally underway, we were advised to start off on the back 9. Once we got to the tee box, another employee drove up to tell us to go to #2. When I responded that we would move but that we were there because we were advised to go the the 10th tee, he sighed loudly and responded with an elevated tone and said “SIR. YOU NEED TO GO TOTHE 2nd TEE.” I pushed back told him that if we were inconveniencing him by simply being there and following the instructions we were given, then he should find another job that doesn’t involve dealing with the public. That said, after a 2 frost delay, with only about 8 groups queued up, rather than sending everyone out on alternating holes (skipping a hole in between each group) they stacked everyone sequentially starting on 1 and it immediately caused a back up since there was no staggering of groups, no one playing best ball, and walkers being mixed in with carts. Effectively they started everyone in a scramble format despite everyone playing their own ball. Pace of play was almost 20-minutes per hole. Gave up after waiting close to 10 minutes on 3 consecutive holes. I get that it’s a muni course but it takes zero effort to just be polite and welcoming.
Nice layout
Course layout was very pleasing and difficult at times. Many scoreable holes. Pace of play could have been better as there was no Marshall and walkers were starting on hole 10 causing a traffic jam on the back 9
Amenities
A public course under $50 lives up to what one would expect. I thought the course was in great shape minus the bunkers (which no one rakes). Greens weren’t too bad, no muddy tee boxes. Newly paved path is a nice touch from what it once was.
The amenities tho. absolute trash. Bring everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, that you may need as they offer 0 food 0 drinks. The carts are also beat to heII but i’ve seen worse.
Get more Golf carts
I had fun playing but we only got through 9 holes but we paid for 18.
Also, they made us turn in the cart at 4:45. should be 5pm especially when you do not have enough carts.
Great Value and the staff was fantastic!
This course was in great shape. I played on a Monday around lunch time and the pace of play was not that bad. It was downright good for a public course. The staff was helpful and fantastic to deal with. Highly recommended.
Bright November afternoon
Course dry, as is all of Atlanta. But grass in good condition. Lies are very fair in rough and fairways
Terribly managed
Made me pay for my wife who was not paying. The front desk person got hostile when I pushed back kindly about it saying that wasn’t listed anywhere on the website. The course was so backed up it took almost 3 hours to get through 9 holes. They were adamant about returning at a certain time. Didn’t even get through 12 holes. Just overcrowded. The employees were yelling at each other. Poorly managed.
Very Nice
It appears that the City of Atlanta is putting almost all of the budget money for their muni courses into this course and it shows. Great layout with great greens. We brought water and it was a warm day but there were very few water stations on the course and none with water on the back 9...beware.
