Browns Mill Golf Course

Rough needs mowing, much too high for an average muni course. Greens could use more water after aeration (played 0823/23).

Also, not enough water available for such a hot day.

Got paired up with some guys and we all had great time. Fun course. Good greens.

Price for play is pretty spot on. Fun course- just wish they would trim down a few areas, lost a few balls that weren’t exactly hit out of play, the grass was so high I just couldn’t find my ball. Challenging in a good way, I’ll be back

Booked tee time was 4 PM. People were waiting for ANY cart to be returned at 3:40 tee time. They had more than 20 carts inside, which requires maintenance, and ended up waiting for 1 hour to tee off, same for the group before and after me. Will not come back to this course.

The Course is a good place to play. The putting greens are 8 out of 10, the fairway is 8 out of 10 and the tee”s is an 8 out of 10. They can use more golf carts because I had to wait and additional hour before a golf cart was available. They need to sell something in the lobby; v at the bare minimum, sell sodas because they did not sell anything. They had water & cups at certain holes , which was very helpful & a good touch..

Fairways were good. Greens a bit bumpy. Bunkers need a stir. A starter helped solve a problem of three young guys jumping around on the course and in front of people. The practice green near 10 was way slower than the actual greens. The clubhouse had no drinks for sale on a hot hot day.

The lady running the carts and range balls was terrific. The course was in pretty good shape. The threesome in front of us was so slow that two groups behind us quit and drove in, skipping the last two holes. The ranger was friendly and driving around, so I am guessing the slow players were friends of his that he didn’t want to embarrass by forcing them to let us through.

This course is too long for many players - the shortest tee box is 5500 yards. They really should add one or two shorter tee boxes.

Good course a little wet. The Greens need rolling. Otherwise course is in good shape.

I used to like this course but when I arrived yesterday for my tee time, we were told that there was a 1+ hour wait for carts and that the driving range was closed unless we wanted to pick up the balls ourself. On top of that, GolfNow is a joke to get any type of refund. I will avoid this course from here on out.

Browns Mill is in great shape these days, but beware the greens have been freshly punched. I forgot and it made for only a good “practice round!”

The munis in Atlanta and DeKalb County was a few years back worn down. However, that has changed in the last few years. Browns Mill was a bit worn down but is now in great shape and it is in all ways a great course. There are quite a lot of trees and water on the course but the rough isn’t deep so you can find your ball unless it is out of bounds or in the water. Consequently, you don’t spend much time looking for your ball. Either you find it where you saw it go or you know you can’t recover it after you have hit it out of bounds or in the water. That really improves the pace of play. The course is also very walking friendly since there are no steep hills. Staff and players are always friendly.

I play Browns Mill regularly and it is a good muni in all ways.

However, when I arrived mid morning for my round there on 6/19, the course was closed due to rain and wouldn't re-open until at least two hours later. I went home, logged into GolfNow and tried to get the refund I am entitled to because my round was cancelled because of rain. On the web-site you cannot get a refund unless you request it BEFORE your tee-time, which was impossible in this case. There is no way to contact a living person or an email box working for GolfNow to solve this problem. Therefore, this scathing review: 5 stars for the golf course, minus 4 stars for GolfNow, total 1 star.
