Great muni in Atlanta
The munis in Atlanta and DeKalb County was a few years back worn down. However, that has changed in the last few years. Browns Mill was a bit worn down but is now in great shape and it is in all ways a great course. There are quite a lot of trees and water on the course but the rough isn’t deep so you can find your ball unless it is out of bounds or in the water. Consequently, you don’t spend much time looking for your ball. Either you find it where you saw it go or you know you can’t recover it after you have hit it out of bounds or in the water. That really improves the pace of play. The course is also very walking friendly since there are no steep hills. Staff and players are always friendly.
You cannot contact GolfNow when you need it most
I play Browns Mill regularly and it is a good muni in all ways.
However, when I arrived mid morning for my round there on 6/19, the course was closed due to rain and wouldn't re-open until at least two hours later. I went home, logged into GolfNow and tried to get the refund I am entitled to because my round was cancelled because of rain. On the web-site you cannot get a refund unless you request it BEFORE your tee-time, which was impossible in this case. There is no way to contact a living person or an email box working for GolfNow to solve this problem. Therefore, this scathing review: 5 stars for the golf course, minus 4 stars for GolfNow, total 1 star.
Chasing the Rain
My brother and I decided to take advantage of the afternoon by playing a few rounds on this course. This was a beautiful grounds and the staff was very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our game and will definitely be back soon but definitely checking the weather forecast for rain first...ha ha ha. Great times
Great pace
Great pace. Challenging course. Very good condition. No off course amenities
Good city course, slow play.
Course was in decent condition, they painted the greens and there was a ton of overspray that looks crappy but oh well. None of the carts had divot repair sand and the course has is showing their lack of that. Don’t stray in to the woods at all to find a ball even if you thinks it’s on the edge….almost put my club on a copperhead!
Fun course for a city club, it’s convenient to work so I’ll definitely play again- my biggest complaint is pace of play. We spent a TON of time sitting in the carts waiting for the group ahead of us to play but then again any day at the golf course beats a day at work so there is that.
Fast greens
Greens were for the most part in good shape. Hole 1 green needs to be replaced, but always a good value for a city course.
Slow play
Carts were limited. Tee times booked in 10 minute increments. Holiday Monday so it was expected. Nit a lot of communication from the staff. Ended up being a 5+ hour round with a 4some. Hopefully on a non Holiday it will be better. Greens and fairways in decent shape. Tee boxes were not.
Could be so much better
First time playing this course. Course conditions were average. Fairway and green conditions not the best. Layout is good. It’s an Atlanta City owned course. So many small things - like having sand on the carts, replacing the seats on the carts - didn’t see one that wasn’t all torn up - could improve the overall experience . The cart paths were newly asphalted and nice. Would recommend this course to play for practice, but that’s about it.
Awesome for someone wanting to Learn.
This course is great for anyone, but especially for someone who is still learning but doesn’t want to be mad and angry at they’re play after their 18 holes played. Great overall!
