Golfer Reviews
The course is really nice
I enjoyed my round a lot. Course is in great shape
excellent value!
This course plays so much better than the price I paid to play it!
Twice in 2 days
I like this course. I liked it so much that played the next day. Truly a gem in the ATL.
Good course for the money
This course is a decent course to play if you are in south Atlanta. It is pretty open so you won't lose many balls and you should be able to shot for a decent score. It isn't really long at all. Course was in good shape, grass was very plush and the course was maintained well. I wouldn't recommend paying more than $40 for a round here though.
A Good Afternoon
I played BMGC. Saturday afternoon,
Carts were charged and the greens are very playable. I found a great price on the Internet.
I love the way the have trimmed the natural areas.
In Need of TLC
The course layout and mix of holes are great but the fairways and greens are in dire need of TLC. They now have new carts as I was told but they should charge them before bringing them out..( I could have crawled faster than my cart)
Great condition
Brown's is a regular course for me, but this was the first time I played there this year. Course is in excellent condition.
Course is much better than service
This course was upgraded by American Golf with new greens about 3 or 4 years ago. The fairways are pretty decent and the green were fairly consistent. The issue I have is that it is run like a back yard course. There were no carts with sufficient power to take you around the course, we changed twice. Then you look and see (4) individuals with their own carts riding around and a (5 some) group on another. When I went to the club house after the first 9 I had to pay nearly 4 dollars for Gatorade and listened to the young lady explain to the group of 6 in the club house that there were "No carts" available. I stated if you guys would manage the course and not allow singles to take carts out on the weekend when playing in a group of 4 it may help. 2 of the 3 guys I played with stated "I'm not coming back to this mess". Hole number 14 was missing a flag and had a "Rake" in the hole as the flag. Tacky and unprofessional is all I can say!!!!!
Great Course
The staff was excellent, the course was was in good shape. Greens rolling good!!!
Continued Problems with Carts
I've played this course twice in the last month, and each time my cart died midway through the round. Worse part is that when we called the clubhouse, they had no more working carts available. This seemed odd since the course wasn't very busy either time. Otherwise, this is a very good course.
It's the best Atlanta municipal course
It's February so it's a bit beaten down now just waiting on spring to perk back up. The greens are in good shape although very slow due to the grass type. I didn't have to fix a ball mark all day as they are hard to dent. It was cart path only. There's no severe elevation changes so it's a good walking course if so inclined. It's a fairly straightforward course. On most holes you can see the green from the tee and no water that's in play for the most part.
A decent track for the $.
Why close half of the course???
I played the Sunday before a snowstorm was forecast for Tuesday. Course management had closed half of the course in anticipation(?) of the bad weather and had tarp covering half of the greens on the nine we did play. Other courses in the area obviously did not go to this extreme. The temp on Sunday was in the 60s. C'mon. Without the front nine to play on, the pace of play was simply glacial. No pun intended.
Best In-town Course
I played Browns Mill on a Tuesday, at 3:00. The course layout is nice and the course was in overall great shape, w/ some challenging fairway hazards and great green breaks. My favorite part of the course was my very first EAGLE on #18!! The only Cons were the greens were very slow; they appeared to not have been mowed the morning of. The pro shop is very basic, and carts are dated. Also, there was no Marshall out during play that needed to move a couple of slow groups along. But in my opinion (I shoot low/mid 90's), this is the best intown Atlanta course that I have found. More spread out than Bobby Jones, and in better condition than Chastain and Alfred Tupp. Great deal for your $ too.
Very Good course for a quick, affordable round in the city
This is one of the few courses inside the perimeter where once can grab a quick round. Wide open course with on a few narrow fairways. Good doglegs and some long Par 3s. Full driving range and putting/chipping area. A rarity for city courses.
Well maintained municipal course. Course staff is very helpful.
Good pace of play, and staff is very helpful. I play the course often, and have encountered no major issues at all.
Very good municipal course.
So it's in the hood, so what? It's a nice course. The greens are in really good shape. Fairways are good. I'd consider it a mostly open course - only a hole or two has a water hazard and the nature areas are still kind of open. Watch out for the rough. It is lose-your-ball thick! It's the only city course with a driving range. Clubhouse is ok, typical snacks, not a whole lot of chow. Nice staff.
