Golfer Reviews
Great layout. Rough very high
The carts were not in great shape. I ran out of charge on first hole. We waited 20 minutes aand 3 phone calls to get another cart. That cart lastest another 10 holes. Called the club house 7 times with no answer. Went to voice mail. Finally had to leave cart on the 12 th hole and ride with the other couple. Poor management. They would not give us a rain check for the cart problems all day. They said system was down and could not give us credit. Spoke to other golfers on the course. This is a problem everytime they play.
This course was CLOSED and didn't let me know!!
The course was closed at 5 PM on Labor Day in Atlanta. I planned my entire day around golfing and when we arrived at Browns Mill the course was CLOSED!!
Change of attitude
This used to be one of my favorite courses to play but two bad experiences in a row. I booked a tee time for mid-afternoon and drove up to find everything locked up. It hadn't rained since the morning and it has been relatively dry in Atlanta for the past week. No employee could be found to answer why it was closed on a clear afternoon.
Course and service need attention
Course seemed to be understaffed, and/or unreliable. Golf carts did not have enough power to last full round (saw others with same problem). No one seemed to be managing the pace of play anywhere on course (there were very slow groups that were holding up play). The greens were not in good shape - saw many great puts be rattled off line due to condition of greens. If not for a discounted tee time from GolfNow, I would have been very upset with value.
Not a penal layout, but the course is not in good shape at all. Avoid this course even at the $24 rate.
The greens appeared to have been aerated several weeks ago and there was noncourse alert and they showed no signs of healing or growth despite the amenable weather we've had. The rough was not mown - not long on purpose but unkempt. I've played at Browns Mill 4-5 times and the condition has been acceptable; not now, however.
I was disappointed that all greens were sanded and i had to pay this much to play the course. it should have been stated in golf now that it is sanded
should have charged us less for a course with all greens sanded. I think when green is back, it should be a great course.
Not bad
Decent course... very good value at ~$20. Unfortunately they don't seem to have a single cart that can make it more than 9 holes..
playable
I have never been able to go a full18 without the cart dying on us!
The greens need some attention
Sad day for Atlanta golf
The course received a significant amount of rain during the night before my round. My personal opinion is the course should have been deemed unplayable. There was a large lake from tee to green on #2 and 6,7,and 8 were under water or were mud from being under water. There were catfish and crawdad in the 8th fairway, swimming! This is a beautiful old Atlanta golf course and the director of golf for the city of Atlanta should be fired and forced to clean up the mess on his own! I played six holes and the very nice young woman at the desk apologized and refunded my money.
good course and we got around in about three hours
this course is fun and does not present too difficult of a challenge. the conditions were pretty good, but for some reason they had sand on the tee boxes. even from the back it is not a long course but it does have its challenges with some water on holes.
Great lay out Fun to play
This was our first time to Atlanta.. We stayed in Midtown.. The course was nice and close.. It is early spring so everything is starting to green.. Great lay out and fun to play.. Pretty relaxed atmosphere... Good value for the price...
Ok course, staff are a joke.
The new gren were so much better last summer, they are way too bumpy now and are in desperate need of rolling, maybe then they could be cut evenly.
It took us 51/2 hours to play on a Sunday with an 8:22 tee time. We teed off 30 mins late, there was a 5some a few groups ahead and another group that fell 2 holes behind the group in front of them. The marshall was alerted about this this but didnt seem to care and nothing changed. The cart died on approach to the 18th green and that's where it stayed.
This course has always been poorly run, and now the condition of the course in addition to that means that i will no longer play there.
Not the best.
Were out of carts. finally got a cart 20 minutes after getting there and then drove to hole number 1. there were 4 groups of 4 waiting at the first tee. My reserved tee time was at 1237 and i didnt tee off until 130. barley got 18 in. finished around 630. course conditions were okay. cart died on hole 15 and had to push the rest of the way. awful experience and will never return.
This is great course with little of everything if managed right.
There are several complaints on my recent experience: 1) first of all the computer was down therefore you has to use cash only, 2) very crowded that day and no starter present so groups were sent off in not so smart fashion, 3) it took us 5+ hours to complete 18 holes and we had single player join the two of us to accomplish that.
I never saw a marshal appear to speed things up the entire round. The weather was great and plenty folders were out but this was crazy.
not enough working golf carts
Made an afternoon tee time 3 days in advance and when we got there they had no golf carts, no push carts and our only option was to walk - we would have brought lighter bags if we had known the situation. I had pre-paid on golfnow.com and we ended up getting a rain check. Granted it was a busy day and a random 75 degree Saturday in the middle of January...but clearly they should have been better prepared. There was only one lady behind the counter and she was flustered from dealing with all the disappointed people, while her manager was out practicing on the putting green. They also said new golf carts won't be arriving for 2 more months, by which time my rain check expires. At least we hit some free range balls as a consolation. I understand this was probably out of their immediate control on that day, but I hope they realize somebody dropped the ball on this and they could have been better prepared.
Nice, classic city/county course if you get it for cheap.
Just a typical city/county old course for a nice weekend round. Holes are near each other and open so even on crazy drives, you will land in your or somebody else fairway. Average pace and maintenance but a lot of times they ask for $45 and this is nowhere near $45 course when comparing facilities or area. More like $15-$30 range. If you paid $45 the course is 1 star. Paid $25, 3 stars. Paid $15, it's 4 stars!
I love playing this course. Nice layout.
This is one of my favorite courses to play. The staff is very friendly. It was a little crowded but that's a given considering the holiday. But a nice outing.
Top of the list of public courses in Atlanta
Played the day after Thanksgiving and it was sllllllooooooow. But it is one of the better-maintained public courses in Atlanta. The layout is fair--direct, not overly-punitive.
