About
Desert Dunes Golf Course has a unique layout that combines a traditional links design with true desert-style golf. The course winds through natural sand dunes that are accented with mature trees and an abundance of native vegetation. It offers one of the most challenging rounds in the valley with narrow fairways, dramatic elevation changes, and fast, sloped greens. Collection areas and strategically placed bunkers border the greens. The most interesting of these bunkers can be found on the ninth and 18th holes where it sits in the center of the signature double green. There are also water hazards that come into play on several holes. In addition to the challenging round, the golf course offers scenic views of the surrounding mountains as well as the opportunity to play amongst wildlife including rabbits, roadrunners, bobcats, and even the occasional desert kit fox.

Too Windy, Unfortunately
I actually only played 9 holes, so it turned out to be a waste of money. With four bogies and five double-bogies (I normally shoot around 81), the 30 mph winds made the course unplayable for me. And as a twosome behind three foursomes who were also struggling mightily in the wind, it just wasn’t worth it to continue. Still the course Is a great layout and a delight to play when the wind is reasonable.
Ok
Course had some very good hole in good shape and some not so good. We played on a very windy day so it added to the adventure.
Conditions
The greens need work and the bunkers need lots of sand
Golfing in the rain
Decent course quite challenging with narrower fairways. Needs more yardage markers for players without range finders or GPS.
Green conditions
The greens were the weakest part of the course. Very inconsistent in the grasses..
Outstanding layout but...
This course has so many fantastic golf holes but was in surprisingly poor shape; it deserves much more in terms of maintenance and conditioning. Over-priced for what you get, just like the beverage cart drinks at almost $10 a piece.
Don't Miss this One
Have been playing here for about 23 years, although it's been 12yrs since I last played it. I've never seen the grass so dark green before..
Very pleasant day....65, some sun, and "no wind !!".
Totally worth the money. Greens need another week or so of sunshine and then they'll be awesome.
Priced well but really bad conditions
It’s cheaper for a reason
Greens were brutal and not many reasons to plan your putts in those horrible conditions. Fairways and aprons were in need of some mowing. What happened here?
Sunset views were nice. But ….
Best part is the high fiving cactus otherwise give this course a miss.
The course layout is fantastic, got to use everyone of my clubs at least once. The par 3's were stunning. Greens need some TLC and fairways are pretty good but foe enjoyment you may want to play winter rules. Will go back if price is right.
