Desert Dunes Golf Course has a unique layout that combines a traditional links design with true desert-style golf. The course winds through natural sand dunes that are accented with mature trees and an abundance of native vegetation. It offers one of the most challenging rounds in the valley with narrow fairways, dramatic elevation changes, and fast, sloped greens. Collection areas and strategically placed bunkers border the greens. The most interesting of these bunkers can be found on the ninth and 18th holes where it sits in the center of the signature double green. There are also water hazards that come into play on several holes. In addition to the challenging round, the golf course offers scenic views of the surrounding mountains as well as the opportunity to play amongst wildlife including rabbits, roadrunners, bobcats, and even the occasional desert kit fox.

We had the course to ourselves. Blasted around in 3 1/2 hours. The course is not in great shape. Greens are in rough shape. It was extremely windy the day we played so we had the course to ourselves.

Who Has Seen The Wind?
In an early morning round, there was a full force gale, which added to the challenge.
Money needs to be spent on Desert Dunes, especially the bunkers, which have very little, if any, sand. The greens on December were nearly unplayable because they were littered with granular fertilizer that interfered with free ball movement. Clearly, the greens needed fertilizer - there were lots of bard patches. Two weeks previously, the greens were fine, far from perfect, but playable.

Nice course
This course has great service at check in. The golf carts are dirty, bit of a disappointment. Starter a bit grumpy…lol but the course was busy. Course was acceptable for overseed conditions. Would play this course again.

Great morning of golf in the desert
Enjoyed the layout of the course. Staff were great. No restaurant open in the morning to grab a coffee or breakfast. Course a little dry however played well and greens ran true.
