Desert Dunes Golf Course
About
Desert Dunes Golf Course has a unique layout that combines a traditional links design with true desert-style golf. The course winds through natural sand dunes that are accented with mature trees and an abundance of native vegetation. It offers one of the most challenging rounds in the valley with narrow fairways, dramatic elevation changes, and fast, sloped greens. Collection areas and strategically placed bunkers border the greens. The most interesting of these bunkers can be found on the ninth and 18th holes where it sits in the center of the signature double green. There are also water hazards that come into play on several holes. In addition to the challenging round, the golf course offers scenic views of the surrounding mountains as well as the opportunity to play amongst wildlife including rabbits, roadrunners, bobcats, and even the occasional desert kit fox.

Getting better but not great
Been a few years since playing has been a goat track last time I played. Better now but not excellent old pga qualifying course so difficulty is there would recommend because of price and toughness but not worth more than $70 in the winter
Haven't played Desert Dunes since pre covid. I like the course but it was in poor shape. Greens were bare, fairways were patchy. Hope they bring it around.
The course needs some
First impression driving in palm trees had not been trimmed in what looked like a few years, no grass on side of road way even though the sprinklers were on. At cart storage, asked were to get something to eat at 09:00 told nothing open. Judy the starter was excellent, very friendly and chatty.
The course tee boxes rough uncut in days, the fairways not grown in yet-patchy, greens slow and lots of what I would call bare spots.
Overall I would not play this course for awhile at this rate it should be a $65.00 round with cart, to let the overseeding take.
Review
After 3 rd hole Marshall pushing gently but pushing
Finished the round I sent Nader 4 hours but Marshall made it evident he wanted us to stay with group a head .
I feel that at any course you should be made comfortable to stay at a pass to finish in 4::15 minutes to 4:45 minutes .
Starter should have made it clear that pass of play should be a certain time !
Thanks
Course Setup
I was surprised by the pins placement. The pins were located in very difficult areas of many greens. If they want to attract golfers to return why don’t they make it player friendly. One group behind us walked in after telling us they had enough.
You need to like playing in the wind!
First 3 holes are in rough condition than the course is in reasonably good shape nice layout with some difficult holes quite windy but that is normal for this course
Decent layout, good conditions, challenging
We played on a perfect weather day, around 70 degrees with a light breeze. We played in four hours but would have played faster if there hadn't been a foursome walking two groups in front that did not let anybody olay through. Could have used a marshal. We lost a lot of balls so that didn't help either. Greens were challenging. Lots of undulation. Could have played a little faster. Overall decent value for the money for last November in the desert. I would play here again.
