Desert Dunes Golf Course
About
Desert Dunes Golf Course has a unique layout that combines a traditional links design with true desert-style golf. The course winds through natural sand dunes that are accented with mature trees and an abundance of native vegetation. It offers one of the most challenging rounds in the valley with narrow fairways, dramatic elevation changes, and fast, sloped greens. Collection areas and strategically placed bunkers border the greens. The most interesting of these bunkers can be found on the ninth and 18th holes where it sits in the center of the signature double green. There are also water hazards that come into play on several holes. In addition to the challenging round, the golf course offers scenic views of the surrounding mountains as well as the opportunity to play amongst wildlife including rabbits, roadrunners, bobcats, and even the occasional desert kit fox.

Nice layout
Nice layout with interesting tee shots. Pace of play is not good, no course marshall ensuring things are running smoothly. We had 2 foursomes merge into a 5 some ahead of us
Great day
Gary met us in the parking lot. Very professional and arranged a cart and range balls. The starter offered some tips and hints for the course. This was our third round in a week. By far the best conditions. The course has many features which made it interesting and challenging. Some hidden traps and water hazards. Looking forward to playing their again soon.
One caution be careful on the turn into the course. High speeds on the highway.
Fun Time
Early season conditions after overseed and hot months. Greens were inconsistent on speed and need to fill in. That will all happen quickly. Starter got us out early which was great. We really enjoyed our round and will return. Unless you are sub 5 handicap, stay away from the back tees and lower your frustrations to enjoy it more. Well worth the price!!
Desert Dunes First Time Play
Poor course conditions keeps me from recommending this to my friends. For just coming out of overseed the fairways were in very bad shape.
Great day
This is the third course we played this week and by far the best. Yes it’s early season but the course was in great shape and it’s not in the middle of a subdivision. It’s an oasis in the desert. The layout is interesting with many challenging features. The sand traps were well placed and sand good. The water hazards well placed. Two thumbs up for Gary the greeter, the starter and gentleman at the desk. Playing there again in a week.
One big caution, watch the turn off the highway. The traffic is moving fast.
Wonderful layout with challenging holes. Pace of play was awesome - I played as a single at 7:10 AM and played 18 in 2.5 hours. Course was a little shaggy but not uncommon in October. Great value and easy to get a tee time.
Don’t play this course!!
This may be one of the poorest conditioned golf course in the Palm Spring’s area our group lost 4 golf balls in the fairways on the first two holes Fairways weren’t cut and the rough was 4-6 inches deep in most places it’s a shame that this course was open and taking money from golfers loved the layout but felt like I was ripped off SKIP THIS COURSE!
Windy but fun
Nervous when I booked this round because this course had some bad summer reviews. I have really enjoyed this course in the past. We had a super windy day and got teamed up with two very fun gentlemen. The course has a great layout. The greens were in a bit of tough shape, but other than that, we enjoyed the day and the course. I hope they keep touching up the little things and get back to being an excellent course.
STAY AWAY_ not worth your time
I have played many courses in the area. This place should be condemmed. The management is non existent. Im from Canada and asked for Michael C (Manager). They said he is out for the day, but yet i seen him hiding in the office. Whats the story of this white dog running around the clubhouse?
The fairways are like your backyard without being cut for a month? The greens had no grass ? there was no service for food or drink for 18 holes!!!.
I thought i was in another world. I wont lie, I was attracted to the $17 ttime. They should have paid me $17 to play there. do yourseldf the favor and go elsewhere. Its not worth your time to play there.
I got what I paid for!
This course could have been so good. Great layout with a few really unique holes. But it honestly reminded me of the opening scene from Tin Cup. Fairways were really non-existent, but the ball rolled a long ways on drives. The greens may have been recently mowed, but you could definitely hammer the putts to the cup. With all that said, I got what I paid for at less than $17 for the round including the cart (which worked perfectly).
Unplayable complete waste of time and money
Unfortunately we got stung..the course apparently was closing today..yet GolfNow still took our $75 for 2 players with no pre warning. The course was completely unplayable no grass on the fairways and the greens just about acceptable.
The warning signs were there on arrival just a couple of cars in the parking lock and the staff demanding the cart back by 2.40pm that’s a fine as long as your not teeing off at 11am as our booking.
Extremely disappointed..
Course is not what the pictures show
I booked this course off the pictures online. Very disappointed. It seemed like the course has been closed down for two years and they just reopened with no maintenance done. Only the greens had good grass. The tee boxes were dead grass and dirt. Fairways were not good. I brought my friend to Palm Springs and bragged on how good the courses were and we disappointed
This course needs a lit of maintenance. Needs for grass that are cut according to gold requirement
The course has a great potential if its maintained properly.
Not what it used to be.
I have played this course numerous times over the years. For some reason the conditions have gone way downhill. The greens had ant holes in them and were not maintained well. The overall conditions of the course was very disappointing. It needs some work to get it back to its heyday. I do like the atmosphere and area of the course though and it is a fair layout and challenging.
Bad rap
This course gets a bad rap. Ya it’s a little rough around the edges but hey, it’s 20 bucks and pace of play is as fast as you can handle. This is a really good layout. They are getting ready for overseed so maintenance is light. Played 2 days in a row. Tuesday tee boxes were a bit shaggy but Wednesday everything was trimmed up nicely. If you want to work on your game, play a few balls and do some on course practice, this is the place.
