Desert Dunes Golf Course has a unique layout that combines a traditional links design with true desert-style golf. The course winds through natural sand dunes that are accented with mature trees and an abundance of native vegetation. It offers one of the most challenging rounds in the valley with narrow fairways, dramatic elevation changes, and fast, sloped greens. Collection areas and strategically placed bunkers border the greens. The most interesting of these bunkers can be found on the ninth and 18th holes where it sits in the center of the signature double green. There are also water hazards that come into play on several holes. In addition to the challenging round, the golf course offers scenic views of the surrounding mountains as well as the opportunity to play amongst wildlife including rabbits, roadrunners, bobcats, and even the occasional desert kit fox.

Mr. Jones - Remove your name from this course

Zero stars is my rating.

I’ve never written a review because most courses are decent. This was atrocious. It’s like they’ve given up on the course. The layout is nice and the staff are friendly. The course conditions were deplorable.

- Tee boxes that haven’t been mown in days and tee markers weren’t placed on at least 5 boxes.

- weeds around the greens were two feet tall

- greens were furry and very spotty

- fairways were also very patchy

- bunkers were muddy and some had standing water

Overall, course conditions were the worst I’ve seen in over a 100 rounds.

@Mr. Jones, whatever royalty you might be receiving, it’s not worth it. You’re a great designer and your name is associated with quality. You shouldn’t let this club market your name.

It was a windy day, but I enjoyed the day! The starter and staff were fantastic! My only complaint was having to pay for range balls after I already paid for the Round!

Could be great.

The course has a nice layout but is sadly in need of some TLC. . Greens looked like they had some kind of disease and course was not well kept. Took us 5 hours and 10 minutes to play which was ridiculous. I’d like to recommend the course but just too much neglect. Back 9 was much nicer than front 9.

Greens

This is one of my favorite courses in the valley, the first time I played this course this year. The greens are fast but they lack grass.

I would not recommend this golf course, by the third hole

we had the marshal telling us we were a hole behind.

We were followed by him for most of the back and then by the 8 hole we were three holes behind.

One of our group sternly asked him to stop harassing us and finally left us alone.

When we finished our time was 4 hours and ten minutes!!!

The course is awesome, but the marshal ruined a nice day.

Desert Dunes

Friendly staff. Challenging course. It was windy so be prepared. Had a great time.

Only negative note is that many bunkers do not drain well. But hey, don't hit it there.

Great layout and pretty good conditions

Play started slow due to a lack of carts, but got 17 holes in after teeing off at 1. Beautiful setting and course was in good shape. Our only complaint is the lack of carts.

Staff unfriendly

Course is way much better than LA area muni courses.

Marshall and starters are diligently doing their jobs, which was appreciated. Only ugly experience was

that Young man behind the cash register.

His attitude should be tamed more to learn where his salary come from.

A Solid Round at a Good Cost

Staff and conditions were good. Decently tough course with narrow fairways and quick greens with lots of break. Cart girl made a mean margarita. Great view of the mountains. Would play again.

Horrible course

Total disaster for this course! 3 hours to play front nine and another 2.5 hours for back nine. Started at about noon and didn’t finish until after sunset! Sand traps were mud pits. Could not play out of them. Washrooms at 10th hole were disgusting, Mens was so dirty, and ladies had no soap or toilet paper! Staff could give a crap about our experience. Not worth playing at any price.

Slow golf

The pace was glacial. Almost 3 hours for the front 9 alone

This course and others in the Palm Springs area should hire marshals to kindly move people along. The skill level of players is not a primary driver on pace. Beginners and very part time players can easily play faster. The other players we talked to agreed that the pace at this course and Coachella valley courses need to step to the plate
