Desert Dunes Golf Course has a unique layout that combines a traditional links design with true desert-style golf. The course winds through natural sand dunes that are accented with mature trees and an abundance of native vegetation. It offers one of the most challenging rounds in the valley with narrow fairways, dramatic elevation changes, and fast, sloped greens. Collection areas and strategically placed bunkers border the greens. The most interesting of these bunkers can be found on the ninth and 18th holes where it sits in the center of the signature double green. There are also water hazards that come into play on several holes. In addition to the challenging round, the golf course offers scenic views of the surrounding mountains as well as the opportunity to play amongst wildlife including rabbits, roadrunners, bobcats, and even the occasional desert kit fox.

Greens were pretty bumpy.

Range is solid dirt. Small bucket is plenty. I think it’s a $45 track. Anything over $60 is criminal.

Desert Dunes

Played this venerable Robert Trent Jones Jr course on a calm day. It’s still a fun layout although showing some wear and tear around the edges. Challenging but fair, but a brute on a windy day! Skeleton crew in the club house, but very welcoming. Would play it again for sure.

Good layout. Bunkers were packed mud, no sand. Fair shape. Needs some maintenance

course amenities

we didn't see the refreshment cart for quite a while and phoned in twice. They sent out a free round of drinks for our foursome which I thought was very nice of them

What a sad course

This course has potential but it's in a bad part of town while nothing around it is kept up. The whole driveway and bag drop desperately needs a face lift and sets the tone for the rest of the course and it's condition. We teed off as the third group in the early AM and were stuck behind the slowest first foursome I've ever seen that didn't allow any groups behind them to play through. They must have been playing for big money because they were lining up the puts as if they were tour pros. By the time we made the turn there must have been 5-6 groups waiting on the first tee as they were no doubtably behind schedule because of the kooks in the first foursome. Every hole had a wait and there was no marshal anywhere to enforce. The greens were like putting on an uneven miniature golf course that was so bad the ball would literally ping off the spots of different types of grass as if in a pinball machine. The Bunkers were a disaster as the sand was not sand but hard cement with giant rocks in it (no, these were not waste bunkers) that hadn't been raked for days if not weeks. The course layout is kinda ok. There are definitely some blind shots where you can't see the group ahead of you and if you tee off thinking it's clear you could very well end up hitting into them which the group behind us did by accident and we did twice. We finally finished our long long round and make it to the 19th hole. NONE of the beers on tap worked and the bartender gave us attitude when we asked for a different draft in hopes that it worked but alas did not. Then to add insult to injury, they wouldn't even honor their GolfPass discount perks of 20% off and gave us attitude when we showed her our membership. There are so many other courses to play in the Coachella valley than to waste your time and money by driving out to this goat track to be treated this way. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere because chances are it'll be a lot closer and a lot friendlier.

Great layout

Loved the layout and being at

A course without all the adjacent homes. Traps need a lot of work. Huge greens that putted true.

Disappointing

Fairways looked and felt like they were recovering from former damage. We had to move our ball after every shot on the front nine due to subpar conditions. Layout of the course is decent but hopefully this course will recover and improve conditions. Carts are warn out and need an upgrade
