Desert Dunes Golf Course
About
Desert Dunes Golf Course has a unique layout that combines a traditional links design with true desert-style golf. The course winds through natural sand dunes that are accented with mature trees and an abundance of native vegetation. It offers one of the most challenging rounds in the valley with narrow fairways, dramatic elevation changes, and fast, sloped greens. Collection areas and strategically placed bunkers border the greens. The most interesting of these bunkers can be found on the ninth and 18th holes where it sits in the center of the signature double green. There are also water hazards that come into play on several holes. In addition to the challenging round, the golf course offers scenic views of the surrounding mountains as well as the opportunity to play amongst wildlife including rabbits, roadrunners, bobcats, and even the occasional desert kit fox.

Great course
Beautiful place! I enjoy playing this course; very difficult greens, the bunkers where hard to play.
Sad!
Once a formidable course in the desert! Now lost in time! For whatever reason this course has lost any luster it once had. Course condition was horrible which made me sad! If you squint hard enough you can see just how this course might have looked! The layout was outstanding and I really wanted to play that course! Except I got a rundown, too much grass in the wrong areas, not enough grass in the important areas! Every bunker on the course was unplayable, right to the half dollar size rocks and the countless puddles in the bunkers. The greens were puttable but inconsistent, bumpy and contaminated with weeds! I guess the only thing I could say was at least I paid under $70 for the round. Staff was nice! Never saw a single maintenance person on the course, boy they should have had an army out there. Buildings were run down and in need of everything imaginable! I am sad for this course! Owners should really go walk the course, maybe take photos and compare to what this once was!
A Little Tired
Enjoyed the course and easy to see why was highly rated in its day. Great set up and variety. Obviously, not much money being put into the course. Dirt bunkers.
Great layout
We played Desert Dunes on. Friday morning in early December as a twosome. The course was in fabulous shape however the rough was rough. As a frequent vacationer in the Palm Springs area we have enjoyed this course a lot. A problem is the constant wind. Friday was no exception.
Bringing it back
Course is coming back. Fairways were good, rough was a little patchy and thick In some areas. The greens rolled true and were in great shape. Discourse has a really fun layout and if they keep putting time into it this could be a great place to play however you do not want to go here when it’s windy
Nice round
Course in good shape rough is tuff . Greens need work
course condition is a bit rough in places, needs some attention. greens were good but not great. rough is thick so stay in the short grass. Be prepared to challenge your game, the layout is typical Jones style with drop-offs on fairways and around greens.
Really Enjoyed It
As a first time playing there, it was really enjoyable. The course was in really good shape and there wasn't much to complain about. Except ...
I was playing as a single behind a foursome that included a guy who apparently worked there as a marshal or starter or something. In any event, I caught them really early on a par 3 tee box. Instead of letting me play through, as etiquette would dictate, I was told (and I quote) "We would let you play through but then you would just be behind the group ahead of us and the group ahead of them." What? Essentially, they decided for everyone that nobody else would let me play through so why should they bother? It's not that they played slow. Far from it. But I waited. A LOT. Even after practice putting on greens to give them time to move along. I was just really annoyed that they assumed everyone else on the course were as big of Jenks as they were about letting people play through.
I'm still going back because I liked the course and it was an otherwise enjoyable experience.
UnderRated
Nice track. Underrated. Tougher than it looks. Greens were in nice shape.
Great value if it's not windy.
Not what it used to be
I have been playing this course since 2009. It used to be in great shape, now it is slipping. There was no aspect course that was in good shape. It is still a nice layout in the desert. A fun round, but still wishing for the quality of the past.
Great design
This course is in need of some investment, maintenance and attention. It is a great layout and design, but bunkers and fairways are in need of improvement. There are many bunkers that were out of play due to no raking with sitting water and the fairways are being overrun with weeds.
