About
Desert Dunes Golf Course has a unique layout that combines a traditional links design with true desert-style golf. The course winds through natural sand dunes that are accented with mature trees and an abundance of native vegetation. It offers one of the most challenging rounds in the valley with narrow fairways, dramatic elevation changes, and fast, sloped greens. Collection areas and strategically placed bunkers border the greens. The most interesting of these bunkers can be found on the ninth and 18th holes where it sits in the center of the signature double green. There are also water hazards that come into play on several holes. In addition to the challenging round, the golf course offers scenic views of the surrounding mountains as well as the opportunity to play amongst wildlife including rabbits, roadrunners, bobcats, and even the occasional desert kit fox.

Golfer Reviews
Ran out of carts
Just horrible. Had a 1:30 tee time, didn’t get out till 2:10 because they ran out of carts! What! Unbelievable. The greens in very bad shape and slow as molasses. Just terrible. Honestly, this is a Robert Trent Jones course and was probably once quite nice. It is under maintained now and falling apart. Current management group should be removed and replaced with a competent operator. Just so disappointing. Played 4 hours till dark got in 14 holes. Pathetic.
Not the best
Enjoyed the layout of the course. The condition of the bunkers were terrible. More like mud holes. Pace of play was too long as no marshal was out on the course.
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CARTS
Had a tee time for a 4some at 12:16PM but did not tee off until 12:53PM because there were no carts available until
groups playing finished their round. Did not finish the front nine until 3:35PM and when we arrived at the 10th tee there was 2 groups waiting. Decided to quit as we would not have completed round before dark at the current pace of play. Course conditions not good with bare spots in the fairways and greens. The area around the clubhouse was gross. Played here 5 years ago and course conditions were much better. We did get a refund for 9 holes but will never go back.
Nice layout but very “scruffy”. Hasn’t had a lot of attention the past couple years. Pricing at $79 was a bit high for the value of the course.
Nice course
The only thing that needs attention is the bunkers, no sand, just dirt and mud.
Shaggy!!!!
Greens fairways and tees were all overgrown. Greens were in rough shape. The layout was good just not worth driving all the way from LA.
Mehh
I understand the course just reopened after their annual re-seeding. The fairways and tee boxes were in great condition, but they obviously ran out of seed before getting to the greens. Many had large bare spots and none would hold a chip let alone an approach shot. The course was over-watered, not only resulting in some wet spots, but also nearly every bunker was a mud pit rather than a sand trap. The staf was friendly, but why would any starter insist that an on-time single wait missing the scheduled tee time merely because the other players (not associated with me) were late checking in? In yet one more miss, the grounds crew failed to set the tee box markers after the morning mowing on nearly half of the tee boxes, leaving them clustered at the side of the box. The lack of attention to details and maintenance showed in the clubhouse where the men’s restroom was out of paper towels and had a foul clogged toilet.
There’s a reason why they don’t have higher green fees at this course…..
Very impressed first time playing!
We had a great time playing at Desert Dunes for our first time this morning! It was definitely a challenge with some blind holes and not knowing exactly where to go.
I read some previous reviews about the wind being an issue but we fortunately got out early and missed any wind and much of the heat!
We will definitely plan to play it again the next time we are in PS/PD and will recommend it to friends in the meantime.
Take care and stay safe!!
Decent track, good value
Played in early Nov so some minor course condition that we’re so-so will improve. Overall, it’s a good course for mid handicap players. Three sets of tees. Fairly generous fairways. Two greens had some blend but I’m guessing that will improve over the next week or two. Good facility, accommodating staff and reasonable rates. Will play it again. One caveat; course is north of Hey 10 in an area that can have some strong winds so check the weather report.
Beautiful, but past it’s prime.
This course was beautiful and challenging, more so with the wind. But water is not provided , the sand traps are heavy or muddy, and the course needs attention. I’ll bet it was quite a gem in its day.
Sad greens
The greens were slow and patchy and bumpy. Course should not have been charging full rate for this. The layout is good and the views are great but more attention needed on the actual golf course. The place has potential but is was very disappointing this day.
