did not honor the deal we paid for
we arrived 20 minutes early and they said we could not have a cart and they were closing so we could not play. the emplyees blamed golfnow for the error. i did not get to play and expect a full refund
Nice course. Could be better.
Know what you're getting into. Cheap course, no frills. The good...it's in town, good course layout. The bad/could be improved: no beer cart, the clubhouse is bare, no shirts, hats, shoes, nothing! Tee boxes are more like dugouts with almost no grass. They allow walkers on weekends which slows everything down. Fix these things and you'll be able to charge more and people will enjoy it more.
Rough shape
Everything besides the greens is in rough shape. Tee boxes have no grass. Fairways are hard as concrete.
Save your money and time
Don’t waste your time here. Pace of play is abysmal. 18 holes took us over 5 hours.
Good round of golf
Course conditions good; challenging and clear of a lot of overgrowth of foliage. The walkers are kool who walk around the course on the walking path. The walkers will stop and acknowledge your play. So hope you're a player who can play in front of Spectators.
Cosmetic, my cart seat was badly torn.
Course conditions were less than ideal
We're coming out of winter so this may be expected, but this was probably the worst course conditions I'd ever seen on Chastain Park GC. Greens were long, fairways were muddy, and it looks like they were doing maintenance on the irrigation systems at some point, so there were massive holes around some of the greens. Overall it's wild they can charge as much as they do here. Will definitely be back in the on-season as I genuinely like the course, the last round was just genuinely the worst I'd seen the course.
Where’s the Grass?
Muddy in a lot of areas and hitting off rock hard dirt instead of some semblance of grass makes this a never playing again. I guess at least it’s cheap but you definitely get what you pay for on this course.
Decent city course
This course is a decent course for the money. All the holes are pretty nice except for the sloping 18th green where they put a nearly impossible pin position the day I played. Pace of play can be a problem since there aren’t many courses in the city and it can get crowded. Also, there are a lot of walkers, which can really slow up pace of play. Our cart was pretty old and torn, and it shook violently every time under the seat from starting it from a complete stop. Overall this is decent track and the staff was friendly.
Thomas
Greens were in good condition. Course was still a little wet from all of the rain but once it dries out, it’ll be in good condition.
Even the goats wouldn't graze here.
I grew up playing this course. Maybe I was just young and naive then, but good lord this place has really been neglected. It hadn't rained in a week and there was water pooled on the fairways. Most fairways were washed out with no turf on top if there was any sort of hill (it's Atlanta, so lots of hills). The clubhouse only sold water and the guys weren't rude, just not particularly friendly. Every single cart had a chunk missing out of the seat cushion. It's clear that nobody cares about this place. What a shame because it's actually a decent layout. One positive is the cart paths had been recently replaced. Pin placements were on sides of hills where the ball would literally just roll off the green if you missed by a half roll.
I only paid $37 on a hot deal and while that is crazy cheap, it still feels like I overpaid.
