Chastain Park Golf Course

This is the type of course that you never know if it is going to be busy or not. Yesterday it was somewhat busy but tolerable. I played lousy but the heat got me. Playing from the whites is manageable for old geezers like me. I shot a 94 and I consider myself an intermediate golfer.

When the hot deals are consistently $22 over the summer, you get what you pay for. Pace of play is slow, but there’s a sign to tell you that it’s 4.5 hours for 18. And that’s exactly how long it took for noon Sunday tee time. If you just want to play 18 holes on a fair course, this is the place. Parking sucks, no range, hardly a putting green, standard carts, no bev cart, holes are a bit crammed together, and a fair number of holes line sidewalks and streets. BUT, the fairway was good, the greens were good (aerated 3 weeks ago, but mostly recovered), the tee boxes could use some work, but I’ve played at much worse courses. If you just wanna pay for 18 holes on decent conditions, this is the cheapest, most fair option.

Overall it wasn’t terrible. I wasn’t a huge fan of the layout because it’s just kinda all over the place. The course conditions weren’t bad. But it’s super super slow. The don’t enforce the pace at all.

I have played the course twice within the last few weeks. It is in the best shape I’ve seen it since moving here 4 years ago. The pace of play today was considerably slow. I have had two encounters with Michael, pro shop attendant and starter. Both times; great customer service and accommodating. Tyler, who I met after my round was also very professional. Thanks, keep improving!

The cart paths are almost beyond repair. Many places you must go off path to overcome a dangerous situation. This is a simple solution and would avoid a cart accident and keep you from having to rut up course because of having to avoid bad areas .

The course is in the best shape I’ve seen it since I moved here four years ago. It would have been nice to know the greens were recently aerated. It seems like they are trying to continue to make improvements.

I didn’t see any notifications regarding recently punched greens when I booked the round. They shouldn’t be charging full price with the green in the condition they are currently in.

The course is great overall but the greens had just been aerated and were bumpy which made it Very Tough to putt.
