Great in-town course! The pace is a little slow but manageable.
Good course overall, and really great for the price…
In good conditions, open play
Chastain is one of the best long public courses in the area, great bang for the buck and usually faster pace of play
Overall good but could be better
Older course with good design adapted to the varied terrain. Greens redone and faster since last time I played it 3 years ago. COVID restrictions still in place mean no clubhouse or restroom access. Still an interesting challenge since first playing the course in 1982.
A little crowded but steady pace
Friendly and helpful staff. The course was fairly crowded but we moved on at a steady pace. Took 4 hours complete 28 holes. Good experience, and an enjoyable day.
Good for the price
Good course for the price, can get a little backed up, however. I like to play after work and have teed off as early as 5:15 or so and can rarely get more than 9 holes in before it gets dark.
The conditions of the course are fine for the price. Not sure how often they move the pin locations around, but it's been the same the last 3 or 4 times I've gone.
All in all, it's a great bang for your buck.
Good Value
Good bang for your buck. Kind of a cluster getting from pro shop to first tee. No one loves covid more than these guys. You’re not allowed inside the clubhouse, can only open the door to check in and there is one guy in there answering phones. Stood there for ten minutes in the doorway for him to tell me I was good to go. Club “pro” was just in his office not helping anybody.
Once on the course, it’s pretty solid, a 7.5. Greens roll pretty well for a muni and the fairways and tee boxes are pretty good. Long enough where you can hit driver on most par 4s and 5s and forgiving. A couple holes had some hard pan but only in a couple spots. Considering it’s $40, and in the heart of Buckhead, it’s a great option. I booked the night before on golf now for a Wednesday morning and there were tons of options. I’d recommend chastain.
Course layout
Chastain Golf course has a class A layout, but maintenance is sometimes missing. Traps are not raked daily and lots of bear spots on fairways. With a little effort this could be one of the best courses in Georgia!,
First Time
I enjoyed the round thoroughly. The only thing that could have been better has nothing to do with the course. Parking is on the street and can be hard to find on a nice day when folks are out enjoying other parts of Chastain Park. The course is challenging and well-maintained. And there is not a better value in Atlanta. What I paid for 18 holes here (with a cart included) was less than half the rate for 9 holes (walking) at the closest public competitor. Golf can be an expensive sport, but courses like Chastain make it affordable without compromising quality of the course.
