Encino at Sepulveda Golf Complex

First time playing the Encino side, way better than the other connected course! The fairways were nice, greens were smooth and in great shape.

I was pretty surprised to tell you the truth, wasn't sure what to expect but it exceeded my expectations. I'm playing there again in about an hour!!

Fairway bunkers are quietly but surely being removed LOL

So many have disappeared over the last 5 years since Covid to accommodate the new hackers who are filling the courses, to keep them happy by making the courses easier the fairway bunkers are being filled or are on the way to disappearing to just become a rough mound area to the side LOL which is ridiculous really, golf is becoming a joke at muni levels, robbing people of the opportunity to actually play normal golf giving them the wrong impression that they are decent players because they don’t have to encounter any hazards or penalty areas such as bunkers and boundaries nor even actual thick rough like courses used to actually have back in the day.

Anyway….. there is good grass to hit off at least, mostly, compared to the disaster I faced at Los Verdes last week.

Greens are ok, not too fast, kinda thicker on the back 9 so it won’t break nor roll out properly but there ya go, another easy feature they’re setting up to help the hacker golfers LOL

Played at Encino golf course, public course that is one of the better ones here in the LA area. They have covered driving range, a LARGE chipping area (about the size of 3 greens) and they have a large area to work on bunker shots and pitch shots. On top of that they have 2 putting areas. Impressive for a public course. The course itself is pretty much the same for each hole, long fairway with bunkers near the green. I would say majority of the holes were par 4's and a few par 5's and par 3's. I'd recommend this for beginner to intermediate golfers.

They’ve quit maintaining thr bunkers again. So many bunkers are not machine raked and many of them have grass growing in them. Again. What is it with employees not doing their job? Who is in charge to actually order their workers to actually do the work? So ridiculous.

Front 9 greens are slightly better than the back 9. Back 9 greens are shaggier and hairy, like the practice green. Sad.

I wish they would let people know, so we can take a check and play another day when the greens are back to normal.

The small holes were terrible, and the greens were like sponges, making the ball bobble all over the place.

Needs about a week and flattening for them to be any good.

Really disappointed, because the greens were decent a week ago.

Greens are not cut too much, so they are sticky slow. Rest of the course is hit or miss, some fairways are getting thin needing water and a bit more maintenance.

Would love to see the course preform maintenance on the sand traps!
