Get a clue
Review is more about a run in with a single, entitled, disrespectful guy who cut in on us but I’ll get to that.
Tee boxes a bit beat up. Greens medium and decent. There are hard pan areas in fairways that weren’t there a few months ago. The right greenside bumker on 9 had nice sand; as you know some are hit or miss. The one on the left fairway of 10 had a crusty top layer.
So, onto the unfortunate part of the day. Our foursome was putting out on 12 when we spot a single cut right in front of us, without saying A WORD and just play on through as there’s a foursome in front of him. My buddy catches him on the tee at 13 and he begins to get angry and loud when all we ask was that he say something or have the decency to ask. Got all crazy when I asked his tee time (2:35) and we were 2:55. Says the “couple” he was playing with abandoned the round. So where was the other single because there was a waitlist. And more importantly, how did he fall behind and magically appear and cut in on us? Shoulda stayed his position on the course. Anyway, we finished in the dark as he was purposely moving very slowly on purpose as to attempt to annoy us.
So folks, here lies the problem. Learn the etiquette of the game. Be kind, play fast and don’t start crap. Ain’t no one gonna wanna play with you. So you know who it is: straw hat, motorized push cart, Raiders headcovers. Maybe even iron covers haha
Very Nice Would Play Again
Had an afternoon free and decided to play. Nice course, staff was friendly. Golf carts had GPS which was a huge help as this was my first time playing.
Tee boxes were a little rough but greens were nice.
Why can’t LA City maintain their courses?
Having just played Whittier Narrows where the greens were perfectly smooth and the bunkers had great sand and were raked, with good grass all around -
I just don’t get why LA City is so different to LA County. Why can’t City courses just do normal maintenance like everybody else when the prices are basically the same? What is the problem? Why aren’t the bunkers maintained, why do the bunkers have grass growing in them and barely any sand, and are not raked, even weekly??? It’s been like this for months and months and years. Years!! If anybody did such a bad job anywhere else in any other jobs they’d be fired and replaced, along with the management.
Scorerer day
It was 109 degrees but the course had plenty
Of shade . As long as you plenty of water you good .
The greens was nice good speed , fairways good easy to hit of the deck..
Could Be Worse
This is way better than Woodley Lakes, but that’s not a high bar. The course is very forgiving (long, straight, wide) and would be a lot more fun/challenging with more fairway bunkers (which I heard they’ve slowly removed over the years). That said, most of the bunkers on the course are in terrible condition (I had one bunker shot that was basically a deep rough shot). The greens are pretty rudimentary (basically, they don’t break at all). Pace of play is a bit of an issue, especially on par threes, but that’s par for the course on LA public courses. All said, there are worse ways to spend $40 in four hours, but this isn’t a top notch golf experience.
Encino Golf Course
Fix the bunkers already! Grass and weeds growing in half of them. Inconsistent sand. Always unracked. Terrible!
Slow Pace Great Challenge
Been several times . Pace is just over 4 hours unless you get behind a party group. Course plays long. Lots of fairway woods needed
