Very Nice Would Play Again
Had an afternoon free and decided to play. Nice course, staff was friendly. Golf carts had GPS which was a huge help as this was my first time playing.
Tee boxes were a little rough but greens were nice.
Why can’t LA City maintain their courses?
Having just played Whittier Narrows where the greens were perfectly smooth and the bunkers had great sand and were raked, with good grass all around -
I just don’t get why LA City is so different to LA County. Why can’t City courses just do normal maintenance like everybody else when the prices are basically the same? What is the problem? Why aren’t the bunkers maintained, why do the bunkers have grass growing in them and barely any sand, and are not raked, even weekly??? It’s been like this for months and months and years. Years!! If anybody did such a bad job anywhere else in any other jobs they’d be fired and replaced, along with the management.
Scorerer day
It was 109 degrees but the course had plenty
Of shade . As long as you plenty of water you good .
The greens was nice good speed , fairways good easy to hit of the deck..
Could Be Worse
This is way better than Woodley Lakes, but that’s not a high bar. The course is very forgiving (long, straight, wide) and would be a lot more fun/challenging with more fairway bunkers (which I heard they’ve slowly removed over the years). That said, most of the bunkers on the course are in terrible condition (I had one bunker shot that was basically a deep rough shot). The greens are pretty rudimentary (basically, they don’t break at all). Pace of play is a bit of an issue, especially on par threes, but that’s par for the course on LA public courses. All said, there are worse ways to spend $40 in four hours, but this isn’t a top notch golf experience.
Encino Golf Course
Fix the bunkers already! Grass and weeds growing in half of them. Inconsistent sand. Always unracked. Terrible!
Slow Pace Great Challenge
Been several times . Pace is just over 4 hours unless you get behind a party group. Course plays long. Lots of fairway woods needed
Nice course that needs some love
I have been playing Encino since I was a child. The course is straight forward and does not have much to it but is normally in pretty good shape. Greens were super slow and spongy. Bunkers were full of grass and hard as a rock so not really sand traps at all. Pace of play was fine but would help if more water available on course as nothing at all on course and to stop takes a desc ent amount of time as not location convenient.
Greens are dead
Somebody didn’t look after the greens properly. They have brown patches and are soft and hairy. Just horrible. Receptive, sure, but they are terrible to putt on. Shaggy and sponge-like. Really disappointing.
And will somebody do something about the bunkers!!! How about maintenance??!! People pay the same money as at other courses, since the price hikes it’s all the same, so why are the bunkers dead with green growth in them???? Unconscionable and irresponsible!!!
But, at least the fairways are not land-mines like at Wilson with the gopher holes and mounds. That’s about the only positive.
