Welk Resort San Diego - Fountains Executive Course
About
The Fountain is one of two 18-hole golf courses at the Welk Resort San Diego. The other course, the Oaks, is an 18-hole, par-3 course that is great short-game practice for all skill levels. Although the Fountain is an executive-length course, it is as formidable as most full-length golf courses. Even low handicappers will be tested by the narrow layout, which covers a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. In addition to a slew of strategically placed bunkers and trees that demand accuracy, water hazards also come into play on a few holes. There are many risk-reward opportunities throughout the course where good strategy will reap many benefits. The golf course has some tricky holes but it is not overly punishing, making it more approachable for a wide range of skill levels.

Basically good Executive course.
Play was a slow, but then again it is a public course and next to a retirement community.
This course has lots of water and bunkers!
This was my first time on this course. I'm a beginner golfer, so for me it was quite difficult. I played with more experienced golfers who really enjoy this course. I'm looking forward to going back with more experience
This is a fun par 62 course!
This course is always well maintained and the staff is very friendly. The course is easy enough that beginning golfers can enjoy it but yet is challenging enough that more experienced golfers also enjoy it. This is one of my two favorite courses in North County.
10-12 yr.old world championships held here
Green, Tees, Bynkers, & fairways in best shape ever
Fine course but way overbooked and terrible delays at every tee box
This is a fine course when you get a good price on it through GolfNow, but yesterday's round was the slowest round of golf I have ever played. Pushing five hours, and that was for a par-62. They were overbooked and had no active marshal going around pushing slow players to move it along. This caused ten minute delays at every tee box where we were standing behind the group in front of us who were also waiting for the next guys. We could see as far as six holes ahead at one point and saw that it was just as backed up everywhere but nobody took notice from the clubhouse and did anything about it.
First golf outing of the year
This was our first golf outing of the year. Great short course for honing wedge, middle iron, and putting. Course was in excellent shape. Had enough challenging shots to keep it interesting.
Great deal, relaxing round, use every club in your bag.
This is a fun course that plays that way. My wife and sister in law enjoyed a reservation at one of the many pools while I tee'd it up with my bro in law. If you're looking for a good solid "tweener" course, you won't be disappointed with the Welk Fountains. Could play a bit slow on weekends and holidays due to tourists.
Great Condition
Everything was great about the course.
Only comment for attention is that there should be a Marshall/Ranger to assist slow groups and monitor GOLF ETIQUETTE 101 as many players there don't have a clue.
Course was great. However, the pace of play is extremely slow!!
Course was great and since it is short, it can be played in under TWO hours for 18 holes. However, the pace of play is extremely slow!! They need to have marshalls to speed up play and let people play through slow groups or pick up their balls and go to the next hole. our first 9 holes were super; then we came up to a slow group who had the entire back 9 open and we had to wait on every shot. Slow play made it very un-enjoyable.
Great course, friendly staff, very laid back.
My husband and i pays this course every month we love it.
Nice Course
I liked it well maintained
Nice people very good value
Manicured and green all around.
I think The Welk Group ought to incorporate the Oaks and Fountains courses and create a full-on championship course! Just as beautiful as is though.
Super course
A very friendly course that we played a second time as we enjoyed it so much. It was in excellent condition and among some lovely scenery. The golf was interesting without being overly challenging and gives all levels of golfer a good game.
VERY GOOD VALUE, HOWEVER THE GATE SECURITY AT THE ENTRANCE CAN TAKE SOME TIME TO GET THROUGH AT RUSH TIMES SO ALLOW AN EXTRA 10 minutes for that
Quality course for when you don't have all day to play
This course is fun and i always find it maintained from the T-Box to the greens . i usually walk and play their walking rate witch was pushed back to 3:00 pm so i have not been here since the change. I was surprised to see walking rate on golf Now for a Sunday morning and took it , I usually play courses that will provide walking rates regardless of time of day, since my playing partners also enjoy walking. I hope they will provide more walking rates in future, the course was in great shape and the greens ran true. if you don't have the time for a par 72 course this one will satisfy fore sure,
Fun golf course
Even though this course is relatively short, you can still get into trouble or lose a ball if you're wild off the tee. Because this is a resort course, the condition was very good. If you are a golfer, you can have a fun round with about fives clubs. Leave your driver in the bag. We had a good time.
Great Executive Course
If you need a course to work on your short game, this is it. Well worth the drive. This par 61 course is well maintained with outstanding greens, With narrow fairways, this will test your short game alignment. With a couple of reachable par 4's an eagle is possible but all par 4's are easily reachable in 2. Some of the par 3's are really short. Pace of play is good and the staff is great. Cart or walk this is a great course to play.
Tougher than it looks!
Nice shorter course, walked it and that's a challenge in itself. Par 3s are testers and the par 4s are tight enough to keep you from thinking about trying to drive any greens.
Great course
The golf course is in excellent condition, one of the best executive course in the area, the staff is very professional, they value their costumers.
