Although Chateau Elan Golf Club & Resort is just 40 minutes from Atlanta, the panoramic views of the north Georgia foothills make it feel much further from the city. The club boasts two public championship courses and a nine-hole course as well as The Legends, a private golf club. In addition to the golf, Chateau Elan is also home to a full production winery. The Chateau Course is one of the public championship golf courses. The layout wanders across 170 acres, winding around a lake and two creeks. Water, not surprisingly, comes into play on more than half of the holes but there are also 87 bunkers strategically placed throughout to watch out for. There is thick Bermuda rough bordering the contoured fairways too. It is more open than the slightly more challenging Woodlands Course, the other public championship golf course.

Poor value, course needs work.

Greens had recently been punched, wasn't aware of that when booking. In addition, some of the fairways and tee boxes are in poor condition. The pace of pay is very slow. We were behind 2 groups who should have been on the driving range and not the course. Overall, a very poor value at $60. Our group agreed it wasn't worth $40. Did not meet our expectations for "Chateau Elan."

Always a treat

Staff is always friendly and helpful. Course is in winter condition, and had just been aerated, so we knew what we were getting into when we booked.

The course has plenty of character; I really enjoy courses where I can lie down at night and go through the holes in my mind, and this one has 18 unique and memorable holes.

Will definitely be back to play again.

Was not happy.

I was disappointed to find when I arrived at the course we could not play it because of the staff working on it. We instead played their Woodlands course. I had played this course before and did not want to play it but did not hvve a choice.

Great course. Not crowded.

I play all around the metro Atlanta area and a little beyond. I would consider Chateau Élan in the top 5 public courses. Two great options for courses. Not crowded. Great and accommodating staff.
The Chateau course is a little easier, Woodlands is a little more of a challenge. Both a maintained well. I will always play at Chateau Élan at least 5 times a year.

Worth the trip and the price

I liked this course and the layout. I also like the Woodlands course quite a bit. Overall, these are good courses well worth the money. I play from the tips and all the par5s were tour length (560yds or so), which I like. One of their par3s is over 200yds and the other 3 are mid iron length.

Nice courses, but price increase will keep us away

We've always enjoyed the Chateau Elan courses. They're above-average for the Atlanta area, though nothing spectacular. The recent weekend price hike to $75 is a shame, as my friends and I don't believe the courses are worth that much especially considering the hour drive to get out there. But if you're in the area or don't have better options, you should enjoy the rounds here.

Beautiful course, well laid out holes, each with a different challenge leading to fast greens.

Chateau Elan is a bit of California in North Georgia, with the vineyards, holiday resort and beautiful houses tucked along the Chateau course. The course layout is in a links style with plenty of room for each hole and optimal use of the terrain and water. We enjoyed the wide open fairways, high quality sand that we occasionally found, and the greens that made you want to hit your approach shot to the right level. It is a great place for a day of golf, even at the end of December.

An awesome golfing experience. Definitely will do again!

I went to Chateau Elan Dec.18 (during dormant conditions). But to my elation, the greens were bent grass greens so they were a "true" green, not spray-painted green like they do for bermuda greens. The greens were in perfect condition, just the right amount of roll and bite. They were fast and true. This is really how I evaluate courses--by how the greens are. I give them a 10! I played both the Woodlands and Chateau courses--36 holes in 6 hours in the winter season and had daylight to spare at the end. I loved the layout of both courses, kept my interest the whole day. The staff was incredibly friendly even though it was the off season, they were very helpful and cordial.
I would definitely recommend these courses to you--you will not be disappointed.

Chateau Elan

Great course for the money.... Driving range could really use some work, was like hitting balls off of hay and not grass, but overall the course was a bit more challenging than I thought!!
